So I think everyone has noticed how slow it is on here. I know there's a ton of you I talk to on and off here but pretty much everyone but Rob has been boring and quiet lately. Whats up with that?

Here's what I've been doing.

Still not working. Losing my mind rehabbing the ankle. Not working. Gained like 15 lbs because I can't doing the normal work outs. Drinking too much. Not smoking enough because it has been hot as balls

Hate your not able to work. Big difference in getting to stay home and having to stay home. Hope you're back to 100% soon.

That sucks about the ankle, hope you're back up and fully operational soon.

It's been a little quiet, yeah. Too hot for me to smoke much, probably the same for a lot of us. We need a plume thread or something.

Joel, here is hoping for a speedy recovery.

It has been crazy slow and while I visit the bum daily I have missed the site being active. I seriously thought most everyone had found somewhere else to hang. And I imagine that is probably the case for some. I am a bum at heart and hope things pick up soon. What we need is a steady influx of new cigar smokers because if we aren't growing we are dying.

We are still here Joel.

Hoping you can recover soon and get back to work. Sucks not being able to work and being laid up that you can't do much of anything else either!

It has been slow, but like Steve said, we need new blood coming in. I think we aren't the only slow ones though. Partly comes with the season.

Myself? Vacation, moving my daughter out of her apartment while she is out of the country, helping my in-laws move in from across the country, hosting a prior foreign exchange student that we had a couple years ago that is back in The States this month along with a family member of hers, rebuilding my deck, summer wrestling for a couple of my boys, getting ready to move my son off to college... All in addition to normal day-to-day activities that come with being a homeowner and having a large family. That is all this last month. So been kind of busy; but still checking in several times a day.

Like you; hoping things pick up again soon! There are several past frequent posters that haven't been seen around much. We have a great site here with a great core of members, just need to get some more joiners and pick up the pace! I think one of the issues is that many of our members are pretty seasoned, so not many questions or new topics of discussion going on.

Well on the other end of the spectrum, you could be like me and waterboarding yourself for a mile 2 times a week.
I did something stupid and signed up for a traithlon and have been at it 1-2 hours, 6 nights a week, and still trying to crack the swim stroke mysteries.
Still the casual smoker, but have a lot of family stuff going on along with a lot of work.
Just too busy.

I do hope for your recovery though, because I would rather have my current problem than having an essential freedom and necessity like work revoked.
I'm sure most have been there one time or another, but I wish you the best.

I'll also make mention of this site next time I light up at the bar.

Between working 10-16 hour days 6 days a week since we just started harvest and having a family, I have had zero time to do anything involving cigars. Other than trying to keep a 13 month old out of my humi who by the way has an absolute fascination with only my high end stash. I swear I am going to return him to the manufacture

Hope all goes well with the rehab Joel.
I'm checking in everyday but not too much going on with people out enjoying the summer I guess.

Been playing as much golf as I can and just got done moving my daughter, SIL and granddaughter into their first house

Mostly work and work-related stress here. My supposed to be 2nd job is the one I work the most, and it's nights babysitting psych's. As for my EMT job, well... I can't seem to get any quality hours in to get released from orientation. The boss claims payroll is a problem, but hired 2 more EMT's behind me, so that makes no sense. All 3 of us are orientees, so can't cover shifts, don't count as crew, and eat up payroll funds.
There you have it. Stuck doing the job I hate, getting my butt kicked by working nights, and being, it seems, held at arm's length from doing the job I love. Very frustrated

Oh man Joel, that sucks!

I was on mandatory bed rest after hurting my back a couple years ago. It was supposed to be 2 weeks of bed rest... I made it 3 days. I was on steroids too so the weight gain was two fold (meds & boredom). One day I ordered Pizza Hut... TWICE. And the first time they told me it was going to be 30 minutes... in that 30 minutes I ate a BOX of granola bars, bad ones (well you know healthy ones) the ones that don't even taste good! Then ate an entire large pizza and then felt the need to order ANOTHER pizza. Same delivery guy... embarrassing, especially when you take into account I hadn't put on actual clothes or showered in two days, I was in PJS and looked (and probably smelled) like grim death, and was on multiple pain meds and muscle relaxers so was probably muttering incomprehensibly.

Clearly you are taking the convalescence process better than I did. Good luck!!

Don't everybody go feeling sorry for defetis. He's a punk.

LOL!! Anyway, I've been working and smoking 2-3 cigars per day. I just don't have much to add here.

I do try to keep you busy through texts though. Seems I'll have to up my text game a bit to counteract your boredom.

It's just been a really busy 6 weeks or so. None of it any fun.

Had a birthday on 7/5. Mother in law passed away on 7/6. Had to deal with cremation and then the memorial services. Been working on cleaning out her house, moving our stuff in and getting our house ready to sell. Been working the whole time and not enjoying my new hour long commute each way. Oh, and my wife fell down the stairs and fractured her tailbone.

Still have a way to go with the houses and getting everything finalized with the estate. I slowly have more and more time for cigars and the Bum again. Started planning my bedroom conversion into a smoking room for year round use. Not sure when I will have the time to start it yet.

Sorry to hear about the ankle. I can't imagine being off work and having to do that much rehab. My wife has had to do that a few times for different injuries over the last few years.

Good to see all the faces coming out of the wood work. I figured everyone was still checking in. I agree there hasn't been much to comment on or get excited about. This season has kind of killed cigar smoking for the midwest outside. Ridiculous cold winter then 2 days of spring and pretty much feels like 100 since unless its raining.

When my back went out, the doctor put me on steroids, painkillers and muscle relaxers. I've never been so hungry in my life. I HAD to eat a full meal every 47 minutes. I'm not sure if it was the steroids or I wasn't getting the food all the way into my mouf...

Work. Smoke. Zombicide. Repeat. Weather has been hot but clear. Had to help my Dad on the farm a lot.

Work has been brutal...we decided to try and tackle a project that was too big and out of our scope of normal and we been paying for it. We share some weather patterns with both of us in Kansas but the humidity has been killer. Kids are heading back to school so we been doing the family thing on the weekends..smoked a few decent smokes but its been miserable but been getting better.

Know the pain with the ankle bud...3rd degree sprain last year and I am still not 100%.

Work is slowing down and with kids taken care of for school I hope to be back smoking again regularly.
