CI has great deals on both right now and I just can't decide which to get. Which do you recommend?

No contest - Sosa all the way. They are a great under-rated brand. Is it the regular line or the Classic or ?

Just the regular Sosa. NOT Classic or Third Harvest

I vote Bahia Maduro. That is a great 2 dollar stick. Great classic maduro flavors.
What does c.ortiz108 know anyway? He buys Dominican grab bag samplers for crying out loud!

Once. It was a failed $4 experiment and I admitted my folly, then bombed them out to people who actually wanted them! They almost went to you, actually, but I'm just too much of a nice guy. :p
I've never had the Bahia maduros, but the Blues sucked ass, so my judgment may be unfair.

True, the regular ones do smoke better with some rest.
The Sosa Classics are made by Fuente, by the way.

I got some of the regular Sosas in a 10 for $10 sampler, which also had Bueso Genesis, 5 Vegas A, Gurkha Regent, and HC maduro. I though the Bueso was best of the bunch, the Sosa and HC tied for second, then the Gurkha, then the 5 Vegas.

I bought a couple of those samplers. Wish I would've bought more for the price. After I tried the Sosa, I bought a bundle...

I've been meaning to ask around about the HC cigars...frequently see the Corojos in a 20 bundle for about $1.50 a piece. Have you tried that varietal?

Guess I didn't put that very delicately.... What I meant to say was that IMHO I didn't particularly care for the Bahia Blue  Maybe I got a bad one, but I always saw these as dog rockets.

Opinions vary, but I think HCs are good for the money, though I've never had the corojos. But personally I'd never buy a bundle of anything until I'd tried a single or 5-pack first.

Chico, when I first got into cigars ('13), I bought a CI sampler, "Uncle Stu's Mild Churchill Smack down". I know, right?! 5 each of Pioneer Valley CT, Torano Dominico, Bahia Blu, Arganese CT and Mark Twain #1. And I just listed those in order of my preference, least to most. The Blu was my first "Hey, this is NICE" sticks.
I know taste is subjective. I just had to give you crap. After all, I'm crazy enough to prefer Hondurans over almost everything else

Hell, you're talking to a guy who likes to smoke Parodis on occasion! I've heard good things about those Mark Twains.

Good to hear, because it would be really sad if a cigar named after one of the most prolific cigar lovers sucked :)
He would probably approve of a $1-2 priced easy smoking cigar, given that he considered that eating and sleeping were the only good excuses to not be smoking a cigar :)
That reminds me, Sweet Cigars sent me a Xikar HC Maduro that I haven't lit up yet.

The Bahia red and blue in my opinion both have a very strong almost overpowering earthy taste that even with nearly a year of age I couldnt get past. The Sosa fresh from the bundle/box has a sweet taste and after a year it has almost disappeared but the other flavors come alive and meld very nicely. I know this makes me sound like a Sosa whore but in reality I really like both. The Bahia gold white label and regular Bahia gold frequently visit my humidor. I have a box of the Gold white label resting now. Just finished my last from the previous box. I also have a few left from my last bundle of Sosa #2 and a box of the limited third harvest torpedo resting will be having one of my last two from the previous box today. So in my opinion get the Sosa instead of the Bahia maduro but do yourself a solid and try the Bahia gold I dont think you will be disappointed.

Oh I forgot to mention I also regularly enjoy the HC both the maduro and the corojo. I must admit though all of mine are well over 2 years old.

Zeede, my 2 cents, those Mark Twain's are surprisingly tasty for a mild. Toasty, light pepper and oaky, and a slight creaminess. My only drawback? They're so damn BIG. The smallest is a Churchill!

I bought a box of the Genesis awhile back, the longer I let them rest the better they got.

Thanks for the great tip....however some one should (with the utmost respect due remember) entreat Lynn to kindly post a video along with written instructions to enable us to master this procedure with the least danger of damaging the cigar. Whilst it is advantageous to have two to smoke at the price of a single cigar this (dividing ) requires a high skill level because of the precision required for best results and resulting in the full enjoyment when the halves are smoked.[don't forget you can smoked the two portion either separately or in tandem] in the meantime we shall be looking forwards to that video.

I recently picked up a 5 pack of these. I've been resting them for about a month. How much longer would you suggest before they settle?

I think I smoked my first one after about 2-3 months and it was good right off the bat.

1 month helped, but I think it was the 3-4 month mark that I started thinking it was a pretty good stick. I've got 9 months on them now and they're still getting better.

The catalog gives a link, but it shows an American Label cigar in place.of the 5 Vegas A for some reason. On the catalog it's the 5 Vegas same as before.
Cigar.com 5 for $5 - Cigar.com (http://www.cigar.com/cigars/93083/cigar-com-5-for-5/)

I buy the Sosa bundles regularly and usually have a couple of bundles aging for a year or more. They a nice cigar for the money...sometimes you can find a bundlebfor $29 or even pull an auction for $22. The premium Sosa lines are really good...you can find them at Products Archive - Antillian Cigars (http://antilliancigars.com/shop/)
