View Full Version : Cigar Bum Pipe Tobacco Give-a-Way- Week 2
Tobias Lutz
06-21-2015, 04:31 PM
As mentioned previously, I’ve been entrusted with a bountiful collection of tins, ranging from a few to 7 years old. My task is to give them away :) This is the second of three week long contests. Read the rules, have fun, and if you see Al (aka Bull) around the forum, make sure to say “Thank you” for his generous donation to the pipe side of Cigar Bum!
1. Contest begins now and end Sunday, June 28th @ 2359 EST.
2. You may enter once per day, with midnight being the reset time. This means you can, in theory, enter each contest 8 times.
3. The winner will be selected from all qualifying posts, using a random number generator.
4. To qualify, your post must be made during the appropriate time frame, and include the requested content for the specific contest. All other posts will be disregarded.
This week’s qualifying content is:
A picture of a pipe you would love to ad to your collection. Here are some examples that I cover :p :

http://img.pipesandcigars.com/p/500/pm/p/pm-pvuny-3426-s.png
The prize is 6-7 tins of aged tobacco!!! Have fun.

The previous pipes I have posted are admittedly well out of my price range and are nice to fantasize about. I have a bit of an itch for a Canadian shaped pipe. In my mind they are like the lancero of the pipe world. Elegant but not necessarily feminine. In my limited experience, I have found that I get superior smoking qualities from pipes that have longer stummels and shorter stems. The Stanwell below is more modestly priced than my other entries, so it just might make it into my rotation one of these days.

I agree, that Savinelli is a damn fine piece of work....
This guy Joe Mariner makes some nice pipes. One of the estates that belonged to my dad was made by him. But what's really interesting to me is that he found a large collection of unused, unfinished European pipes brought home by soldiers after WWII. He finished them and now sells them. This is his tilted billiard selection. I like the third one down. Nice 2-tone effect on these.

Pokers are very popular and I'd love to try one. This is a beautiful pipe, but I'm not sure about the silver dollar. It would be worth giving a chance.

More than likely I will never own something like this because even if I were wealthy I'm not sure I could bring myself to drop over a grand on a pipe.
But this Castello does make me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

Well folks, due to me being away from home for a while, I had Tobias hold off on shipping until my return.
I am glad I did as I didn't care to have the box sitting in that heat there was around the country last week.
Today it arrived!!

A special Thank You to Al Bull for providing these wonderful prize tins of tobacco and to Tobias Lutz for hosting the contests and arranging the shipping!!
Some of these the dates are obvious:
GLP Chelsea Morning - 5/11
Esoterica And so to bed - 9/11
Escudo Navy De Luxe - 12/10
the Virginia Woods has a code of 410308 stamped on the bottom. Not sure if this can be deciphered to a date or not? :ask:
the others do not have an obvious to me indication of age, but will sure to be enjoyed!

On McClelland tins, the last two digits are the year.
