View Full Version : Are You Satisfied with the Number of Cigars in Your Inventory?
Nature

Nearly everyone seems to be seeking out more cigars to add to their collection and there seems to be a wide variation in the number of cigars we have in our inventories. Some may get to a point where they have enough.
Considering your resources like storage space or budget, where are you at on the satisfaction scale?

Some may get to a point where they have enough.
As far as I can tell, the only clinically proven side effect of nicotine is having that word erased from your lexicon.
:D
In all seriousness, the generosity of the folks on here have allowed me to smoke a nice cigar far more frequently than my budget would have normally allowed (and a far greater variety) so for that I am thankful, and very satisfied :)

You can never really have too many (unless you're going without food to buy them). Although you can have enough to see you out for a good while. I rarely have more than about 30 sticks on hand at any given time (not counting cigarillos) which is enough for a few months for me. What I fear is the constant increases in taxes, annoyance laws and other general things that make getting cigars harder and harder. If I could stock up enough to last me a lot longer I would, but the budget doesn't allow for that.

A couple months ago I would of chosen the "too many," but now that summer is here and I am back in cigar smoking mode...I could always use a few more :stogie:

I am at capacity and I need to get my numbers down. Stupid limited releases! I am trying to thin the herd here and there. Once I get this move completed, I might pull everything out and do an inventory. I know I have around 450 sticks and I want to get under 400. Every time I get close, some wise guys send me sticks, and then they laugh and point fingers. Mom, I am getting bullied, but then she laughs at me and tells me to suck it up!
In all seriousness, I have more than enough. I am about 9-10 months in the hobby, and the generosity of the people in the cigar world is mind blowing! Some of my collection is good, some is meh. When I was just starting I was buying samplers galore, so I have a ton of singles. I am just now starting to get to the point of figuring out what I like, so I will start liquidating stuff. If it weren't for having bad influences in my life like DogRockets and 04EDGE40, I would probably only have like 100 sticks.... :)
Lastly, I only buy what I have money for. I put $10-20 in an envelope each week, and it goes to cigars or other hobbies. If I want to buy something larger, I sell what I have multiples of to fund my next purchase. I have never bought cigars that I didn't have $ to back. I have just as much fun shopping as I do smoking.
oh and I also blame the people of the cigar forums. Silly people sell stuff that I can't live without. I don't have a problem, I can stop when I want... Lol I'm not addicted, you are!

A while back I commissioned my best friend to build me a custom humidor. It holds several hundred and as long as it is 50% full, or greater, I'm a happy man. :)

I could use a few more although I haven't bought one in months. Only because I fear the overbearing government will eventually put the kabash on Internet sales.
Hard to tell for sure but I probably have more cigars than I will ever smoke right now.

At my current rate of smoking cigars I have about a 3 year supply of approx. 400 cigars. All of my storage is full and I really don't want to add more storage. I am content.

Horseshoe, excellent advice.......if only I could follow it bwaahaahaa. You are spot on....A BUDGET, will ultimately provide more enjoyment.
In January I had a 25ct & a 50ct, when I ordered a 400ct..Now the 25 & 50 are full the 400ct is almost full an Im workin on the shelves for the winador...Then the other night at the hospital I was standin next to a wood an glass cabinet 8' long...2' deep...an 7' tall....all I could think of was how many cigars would it hold....na this is a hobby an I could use a cabinet...
My goal is to have 10 yrs worth of 10 yr old cigars,,,,,so not yet...

I never have enough when I'm looking online or in the b&m, but once I get home... That's another story.

I voted never enough, but if I'm being completely honest I probably do have enough. But like Brent said new stuff and LE'S just keep coming out.

I honestly thought I had shaken CAD once and for all at the start of this year. I was wrong. I've been on a 3 month bender. It's going to end soon, I have way too many other things I need to pay for first. I'm good with my inventory now, so I picked close to satisfied. Now desire is a different story. I wish I had a small walk in but that isn't happening.

I had a 100-count and two 50-count desktops and bought a small endtable humidor so I could buy a few favorites by the box. I'm good.

I'm not satisfied yet, but i'm about out of space to store containers and out of funds for a while. Once I move I'm converting a good sized betroom into a smoking lounge, so space, and hopefully funds, will be less of an issue. I just have to resist the urge to turn the closet into a walk in.

I'm satisfied. Sure, there's always somethink else that I'd like... but that goes for guns, whiskey, toys, and everything else!

Where's the "all of the above" selection? I have each of these thoughts at least once a day.

I have several years worth of cigars but I still voted for "never enough" because half the fun of this hobby (passion/obsession) for me is buying & collecting them. I am well past capacity so soon I will finally pull the trigger on a 2nd wineador which will be only used for aging. NEVER ENOUGH!

I'm completely satisfied with what I have. Although it's waaaaaay too many and I keep buying them for some reason. When do Tatuaje TAA 2015 and Tatuaje Hyde come out again?

I voted category 3 - I have enough on hand to keep me happy.
I try to keep 100-150 on hand, and right now I'm at about 150. Lately I've been presenting TAD symptoms with pipe tobacco - my tobacco cabinet is near full, along with ample stocks of blending components in the basement laboratory, but I keep buying more!

I have probably 80 or so on hand, which would probably last me a little over 2 years and it keeps my tupperdor about 2/3 full so I have the "right" amount right now. I'll pick up a couple singles if I'm at a B&M (which happens every couple months) and I'll get a sampler if I start getting a bit low, but I don't feel like I really need more.

I have 550 or so in a wineador and at 3-4 a week that gets me about 3 years supply of nicely rested cigars. I put in an order now when I have space made from smoking them. Of course occasionally have to play tetris with a deal I couldn't refuse...
I voted satisfied.

I voted "I Could Use A Few More."
I'm working towards having a 5 year supply at 2-3 per week, which will allow me to have a rolling aged stash, since most of what I smoke is reg production CCs. That's about 650 total cigars.
Right now, I'm at about 400-450, and I've been working at building it for the last couple years. It'll probably take me another 2 years to build up to where I want to be, as I have a tight budget I refuse to compromise (I have a family of 7 to support, and I'm the sole income).
After I hit the goal of 650, it will be strictly replacing what I've smoked.

I thought I had enough, don't know how many but I just ordered a 10 pk. of Buenaventura 560. I'm running out of storage, have to finish building the shelves for my 3rd wineador.

I voted I could use a few more. I currently have enough to last about 2 years roughly, but I have enough space in my wineador to hold about double what I have, and that'll allow me to start putting a little age on some of them, and smoke some while waiting. After I fill the wineador, I'll probably just buy to replace those I've destroyed with fire.
I only smoke about 1 a week in spring/summer/fall, and maybe 1 a month in winter...except for camping, hunting, and vacation, then it's usually one-two a day.

Myself; I'm right about where I want to be. Got a bit of room to add a few more if something comes up, but I certainly wouldn't be hurt if I depleted it for a while. I sometimes go a few months without buying anything.

That's a great goal.. I think I had something similar I set 10 years ago... Now my goal is 20/20 ;)

Ever since I got into pipe smoking, I've hardly bought any cigars. I have exactly 1 stick in my tupperdor. It's a T52 so at least its a good stick. :)
Seriously, I've got to get a decent stock built back up. I generally have mostly everyday smokes ($3-$5 range) with just a handful of nicer stuff for special occasions. In the warmer months, I'm sure I'll smoke cigars more than pipes.
As soon as I pick up a 250g box of Full Virginia Flake, I'll start buying some cigars again. :pipe:

Its kinda funny when I had a 100 ct humi I thought I would never fill it or need to. I now have a 500 ct and it is nearly full and I still find myself thinking I could add a box of these or these if I had a bigger humi. I think its like George Carlin used to say. We buy a house to keep our shit in. Then we get too much shit and need a bigger house.

I have about 12 sticks I keep in rotation then a little room for stuff I haven't tried yet. It seems there's always one rotation needing a refill. However, my next priority is to get a new humidor. I'm tired of the cheap leaky ones I have.
