Recently I came to the realization that as i was getting older my kids were too and pretty soon they wouldnt want to spend time doing stuff with good ole Dad so we had a family meeting and discussed what they enjoyed the most in what we try to do as a family and camping/fishing won out..so I put my lifted Jeep up for sale or trade for a camper so we could start a new family activity...we have tent camped for years but my wife with her health issues cant do that and I have gotten to the point where sleeping on the ground is no longer fun...

A wheeling buddy called me up and offered to trade his pop-up and cash for my jeep and we made the deal.

Packed it all up this last week and headed out to the lake thrusday night after work...

This was Friday Morning...just beautiful...

http://i1238.photobucket.com/albums/ff485/sewerrat33/IMG_20150522_060546.jpg (http://s1238.photobucket.com/user/sewerrat33/media/IMG_20150522_060546.jpg.html)

I took enough cigars that i would have plenty of choices and as I got the trailer hooked up thrusday my MAW from Old Smokey came in so it went in to the travel box.

I smoked a could Johhny-Os but didnt take any pics...But the kids decided I needed to try something from my MAW so I told them to pick a cigar from the bag and take the bands off so I wouldnt know what I was smoking...

A beautiful box pressed robusto sized smoke...even with the rain it burned well. The wife didnt like the smell of it and the flavors werent really my cup of tea...not bad but not something i would go looking for...

Saturday eve I decided i wanted another and the boys jumped at the chance to play this game again so...

Bad news was that it had rained so much that the lake was coming up and the only road into the camp area was washing out so we had to pack it in and head out so the cigar was put in to one of my travel tubes...yeah I know you arent suppose to but i dont follow mainstream thoughts usually and it was a GREAT cigar for the 1st 1"-2"...

Packed up and headed home and today is unpack and clean up day so i pulled yesterdays stick out, relit it and purged the hell out of it...

Great cigar even today.

The 1st was a Punch Rare Corojo...at one time I was a self proclaimed cigar snob and only smoked what I knew I liked and hardly ever grabbed something new (tried new with bombs and trades) and had never picked up any NC Punch cigars..again not a bad stick but not my cup of tea...

Now the 2nd was a Nestor Miranda Collection Habano..now it was a Great cigar...had never seen them locally and the band is interesting. It had good flavor and a lil spice on the back of the smoke. A Hearty smoke that will find a place in my rotation...at least another 5 pack to make sure...

Thanks again Steve

Although it rained a majority of the time we had a blast and having my wife out there while the boys fished made it perfect. Camper is now being cleaned and leaks fixed and prepped for 2 weeks when we will head out again.

Everyone have a great holiday!

So, does this mean your kids are going to pick one for you, with no band on it, for our virtual herf tomorrow? :)

Don't see why not...

Might be fun...don't expect me to describe all the "flavors"...its either good tobacco flavor or bad tobacco flavor, spice or no spice, sweet or no sweet...no Madagascar Vanilla here...

Those Nestor Miranda Collection cigars are very good. I've smoked quite a few of all 3 and the Maduro is delicious as well.

Shawn, even with all the rain it looks like you enjoyed some great family time. I am glad the MAW smokes arrived in time to be able to make the trip. Thanks for the pics and I hope the next time you get a chance to get some lake time with the kids you have better weather and a big basket of fish to enjoy.

We ended up with almost 15# of catfish when we had to pack it in. we released them to be caught another time..

My son caught his 1st real crappie

Ended up releasing it when he started catching the catfish since they were beating up the crappie on the stringer.

Was a great start to the holiday weekend and a start to the summer!!

Nice. Been trying to talk the wife into buying a tent trailer for a while but she's not much of the outdoorsy type. As kids we pretty much grew up in the camper. Great way to spend quality family time. Congrats

Looks like you guys still had a blast, even though being rained out.

My kiddos are still so young that Daddy can do no wrong, but I am not naive enough to not know that the day will come when they want little to do with me (except to get in my wallet  )

I hope one day I can have something similar set up with my little girls :D

That's a nice black crappie. My favorite fish us landlocked guys have a chance to catch. Looks like a bunch of fun weekends ahead with the family. And as far as your kids outgrowing dear old dad? I have 3 kids 35, 32 and 29 and they all call me everyday for a good visit. They all have busy lives with spouses and kids but they haven't forgotten me. They don't always forget dad.

Okay, I'll see if their mom will let me drop them off early.
