Good evening everyone new to the cigar world. I have two wood humidors and have done the usual. Outgrown them both with samples and such. I have an extra plastic ammo can an doula like to turn it into a humidor. It has a tight seal and I plan to use Boveda packs. Has anyone done this before ands what suggestions would you have to do this.

I'm not familiar with plastic ammo cans, only the metal military surplus ones.
As long as it has a good seal, yes you can turn it into a humidor.
Also, let me be the first to say "Greetings, and welcome!"

Clean it well, let it air out, and it should be fine. Place a flashlight in there, look for light around the seal. Then do a dollar bill test. Close the lid on a dollar bill. If you can pull the dollar bill out, then it isn't really a tight seal. The biggest issue would be the type of plastic used. Some people say it should only be food grade plastic used. To me, I fall on the meh side of that debate. I have a toolbox that I use. It is a waterproof toolbox with a rubber gasket and air lock. It works awesome! I keep some boxes in there. I keep it in a dark closet and it holds rock solid at my desired rH. Be sure to open it up every couple weeks to let some fresh air in. Now if you notice every time you open the can up, and it smells like plastic, then I would find another storage solution. I have so much cedar in my tool box that it smells like cedar and cigars when it is opened, so I don't worry about my toolbox being "food grade."
Good luck, and welcome to CB.

Sounds like a good idea. Agee with Brent. Welcome to the forum. You should also go to the introductions thread so people can meet you.

There's a fellow canadian on here that uses one, Momo439. Has a rubber seal on it and he says it seals great. Just make sure to clean the plastic smell out .
And Welcome to CB!
