I got a newsletter from Walker Briar Works today. By the end of the month, the 25th I believe, they will be out of the Forever Stem business. Pat Morgan, wive of Phil Morgan of Missouri Meerschaum will be taking that over under the name of Log Cabin Pipe Works. Dave Wolff will devote his time and energy to refurbing and selling mid to high end estate pipes.

Thanks Doug. Better get my order in then…

Do you think they will be the same under Log Cabin Pipe Works?

Those that want to get there hands on a WBW made Forever stem better act fast, I spoke to Dave and he said that he does not have much left. So it will probably be a few weeks before Log Cabin has produced some stock. Just a heads up.

Let's not panic. Knowing the people involved, I am sure they have a good transition plan in place.

Just put in my order with them; they are going fast. Got a black Lucite straight (they have already sold out of the black Lucite bents), and several fancy Lucite stems, mostly bents.

I ordered two acrylic black standards, one bent and one straight. I will have a total of 6 soon. I'm not doubting Pat and Phil's ability to make stems but I would rather have and not need than need and not have. I wonder how well they will make the new ones.

I am a little bummed I couldn't get another tortoise standard :(

Thanks for the 411 Doug, but this truly sucks. Forever Stems are, IMHO, one of the great products out there. The overall improvement of the entire cob platform is just tremendous. I wouldn't smoke a MM without one and I do love a cob.

I just hope the new fellas get the plot and continue the quality and selection we're used to.

In speaking with Dave I am sure the quality will be fine. I just wanted to make sure I got some of Dave's before they are no more.

I think it will all work out. Many of us a familiar with Phil Morgan and can attest to him being a stand up guy who is respected and admired in the corn cob community. I seriously doubt this was a spur of the moment decision on either part. Even though it will be his wife's company actually producing them, they know we will consider them joined at the hip, so to speak. The worst I feel that will happen is we will still have the same great product. Maybe Pat will take it up a level as she won't be dividing her time like Dave had to.

I think DGErwin11 most likely has it right. I once street viewed Walker Briar Works since they are only a 40 minute drive from me and I thought maybe I could go check them out. The address is not a store front, but a house in a residential neighborhood. With the amount of talk about Forever Stems on the forums, I can imagine Dave was a very busy man indeed.

MM is a stand up company and even if the new stem operation may not be directly tied to them, I have a difficult time thinking they will drop the ball.

I am curious if prices will change.

I have 3 and have had them for years. Good to know they will be around in 10 years when I need more. :)
