Last night the local cigar group had a Caldwell event and it was really nice and low key! About 10 of us showed up and the special was a Eastern standard and the king is dead for 10 bucks. With that you got a yellow cake. I got my sticks (no yellow cake, special limited run un named cigars instead) qmd enjoyed the king is dead. The rep was awesome and down to earth and had some great stories and insight to the company where its going and where they want to be. Also learned something new that I plan on trying which is removing a inch of the wrapper off the foot with your cutter to experience the cigar without the wrapper and than see how much the wrapper changes it. I finished off the king is dead an moved onto a long live the king to finish the night. I highly recommend trying Caldwell if you have yet to try them and to go to a event if you have one local. It wasn't a we have huge deals and give a way events but it was a AWESOME learning event from the Caldwell brand to just cigars in general. My taking from the night

i had it in My Style is Jalapeņo and loved it in the beginning but it got harder to smoke as i went on. i think it was to moist so i had keep puffing on it which ruined it. i have one at home resting that i am defiantly looking forward to smoking

Robert Caldwell was on the Stogie Geeks show a couple of weeks back, and I really enjoyed his interview.

I had my first Eastern Standard last night thanks to Bernardini and it really took me by surprise. One of the best NCs I've had in a while!

im gonna be giving a eastern standard a try in the next few days
Not sure if you knew it or not but apparently your supposed to smoke TKID followed by the LLTK like you did. The first cigar is supposed to set up the second to make it better. Saw an interview recently with Robert Caldwell and he was saying how this was part of the original concept but they abandoned it from a marketing stand point because people weren't getting it.

I was surprised to see them at a B&M I visit when I can and picked up a LLTK. The thing was basically fireproof and I could not for the life of me get the binder and wrapper to combust. What flavors I did wrest out of it were nice, but I think if the whole cigar burned as intended, it would be spectacular.

Maybe your local B&M has their RH set too high.

It was the corona gorda.

This is what I usually chalk up issues like that to, but the RomaCraft Aquitanine of the same size burned just fine. I gave up and left it out for a few days at sub 50rh and it still didn't burn. I have read of others having the same problem with this vitola. Maybe it's the Viaje syndrome, where they need to rest for quite a while before being ready to smoke...

That's really strange. Maybe try emailing Caldwell?
Edit: Resting for a year or two should help the flavor. It should have zero affect on the combustion properties.
Ive actually heard a number of people across multiple forums having the same burn issues with Caldwell. I myself have had a few that just wouldn't burn and they were acclimated to the low 60s. So far its the only negative thing I can say about the brand. They did post this on their FB page a few weeks ago though so they seem aware of it.

Guys we really appreciate your support. You are a great group. I know some of you have had construction issues with some of the Caldwell stuff. We appreciate your making us aware of these issues. We have been in touch with our factory to address any problems and have gotten to the bottom of it. We stand behind all of our product and have replaced everything we are aware of that has has an issue. In terms of Lost and Found- these cigars are found by me and sold by Tony Bellatto. It is an awesome project. We have had some issues with these cigars exploding. A few things:1. They were shipped out a few weeks ago when it was ridiculously cold. Subzero temperatures. This is deadly to cigars. Also they are not cellophaned so they are more fragile. From now on we will cello in the winter. Also, please check the cigars rest and climatize when they get to you. I have been in the game for a minute and the issues that I have seen on these have been from the cigars not climatizing or physical damage. If you are selling our product on the secondary market please pack the cigars so they are protected. If they are bouncing around in a box or the bundle is not in a ziplock we are going to have problems.
Lastly, if you have a problem please hit me up directly if it is concerning Caldwell. If it is with LnF please message Tony directly. We will take care of it. Please do us a favor and don't blast it on FB. We stand behind our product but would appreciate a direct message so we can take care of it.
We love what we do. We do gangster shit. Please help us along don't trip us up.
Thanks for your support.

ahh the heater!! yeah thats the size i want to smoke it in but both of mine are My Style is Jalapeno (7x40) i didn't have burn issues as in it wouldnt burn but just seemed really moist and would not stay lit. they shouldn't need to rest too long with all the aged tobacco they use

Sounds like a good excuse to pick up some TKID to go along with the LLTK I have resting. I want to try an Eastern Standard as well. A visit to Small Batch is in order...
