Hi everyone! I'm getting back into cigars after a brief absence following graduating from college - started checking out the forums at an older site for some tips on picking it up as a legitimate hobby now that I actually have an income and need storage for sticks I want to try and whatnot. I've heard good things about the Bum community so figured I'd stop by to introduce myself!

Didn't have much of a cigar IQ back when I first started casually enjoying cigars, smoked pretty much whatever was handed to me 10 beers into the evening. So I'm looking forward to learning from you all and figuring out what I actually like and don't like.

I'm currently in Washington DC, but picking up and moving way out to Salem, Oregon around July or so. So let me know if any of you know of any good local spots out there! Cheers! :beerchug:

Welcome to Cigar Bum! Be careful though, hang around too much and the storage and income become inadequate very quickly! ;) Mark is right, tons of great members here and tons of knowledge to soak up!

Ah, my younger brother went to WVU for a while before they decided he was having a little too much fun... quite a crowd there in Morgantown!

Welcome to Orygun and the Bum

There's a halfway decent cigar shop at the Lancaster Mall but other than that you'll need to make your way north to Portland

Yeah was scoping the place out on Google Maps and it looks like the mall will be closest but I'll have to visit Portland for some character. I've heard great things about the city, so I'm excited to visit regardless. I anticipate using my car quite a bit more out there than I do here in DC!

Be sure to reach out when you plan to come to Portland. There's a few bums up here that would be interested in a get together at one of the local spots.

Awesome, definitely will! The ladyfriend and I will be looking to meet as many new friends as possible.

Haha thanks - part of me is sad to leave the city, but I'm definitely looking forward to a change in pace. I've lived in this area basically my whole life, it'll be nice to try something new.

Welcome to the Pacific NW Dan. I see you have landed in my little hometown of Independence, Or. It really is a great little town to live in. We will definitely need to get together and put on a herf for all of us on here from Oregon. At a minimum we are gonna have to have a local get together and enjoy some great cigars.

The local B&M at the Lancaster mall in Salem is a nice cigar shop. They have a nice staff and the owner is great. They even have an indoor smoking lounge attached to the shop with a nice big screen and a decent amount of good seating.

Welcome to the BUM and to Oregon.

Welcom sir.
I just saw this post.
I am a Portland resident currently in Washington, D.C. For a few weeks.
Actually, currently in Lancaster pa cigar bar on my way to a semi home base in Washington, D.C.

Looks like we switched places. Portland is a great place for cigars. Not so sure about Salem.

Have fun here. It won't be hard.

Thanks! I've been to Salem a few times for supply runs and date nights, but haven't made it to the mall just yet. Any cigar friendly joints here in Independence? Mecanico looks like it has potential - I've only been once so far but I noticed they had ash trays out. Definitely down for an Oregon herf!

Nice! Been to Portland once or twice already for the Saturday market and sightseeing. If you have time while you're in DC definitely check out W. Curtis Draper's - It's at a great spot, right near the White House, and is one of the best tobacco stores I've ever been to. Also Shelly's Back Room is right down the street, it's a super nice but chill cigar and whiskey bar. Definitely worth a visit!
