Just wanted to give a heads up for those interested in keeping track of things.... A new website (thepipetool.com) has an open beta running right now. It looks promising...

Tnx, I'll have to check it out. I have a good system for keeping track of my cigars and blending recipes, but don't have a good tracker for pipe tobacco.
edit: never mind, they wanted too much personal information

What did they ask for that you uncomfortable with? There isn't any type of validation - you can pretty much add whatever you want.

I'm old and set in my ways; I'll stick with tobaccoceller.com.

I used it a bit it still has a lot of bugs. I wouldn't waste my time.
I made an excel file, with no internet required to update. And I still have a hard enough time keeping it straight. Just lazy, really. Sometimes it's a nice surprise to find a tin that wasn't on the list, though.

They also track your pipes and you'll be able to put pictures of them on there as well.

Yeah - I think my main use case is when I start buying tins to actually cellar unopened (still a novice), and just keeping notes so I remember what I like.. haha

I had a discussion with a pipe smoker who was in on the 'alpha" test. He wasn't impressed but told me to check it out for myself. I guess now would be the time to do that. Thanks for the heads up.
I visit tobaccocellar.com weekly at least. It has been a great site but sometimes I wonder if the hamsters are still being fed. :)
