In my offroad group i am known as a cigar smoker and many have come to me about cigars and tobacco..

We have a friend out of this group who does estate sales and auctions and she came across this and wondered if it was cigar/tobacco related.

Its not old or anything special but it intrigues me as to what its purpose is...

Obviously, it is where they store the breadsticks at Olive Garden.

Looks like a Flour or Grain Scoop from a bakery.

Whatever the hell a "scuttle scoop" is, this appears to be one!

It's for scooping coal out of the coal bin.

Ah! Well, that explains it. Growing up, we were too poor to be able to afford coal. We had to rely on lighting daddy's "natural gas." Thank God he was a big bean eater! :stogie:

Any reason for the slots or grooves in it??

Thanks for letting me know what it is though!!

It's only a guess but I'm thinking it made it easier for the coal to slide out.

Actually, if I understand what I have been reading, what we have here is a Scuttle, which is commonly used to hold or store small amount of coal. The Scoop part of this, is actually a small metal, shovel looking thing. They go together.
