Hey, Ryan from Famous Smoke Shop here.

Just curious to hear what some of you may have to say about ways we could improve the packing for our shipments? Throw in a Boveda pack? Something other than bubble wrap? Etc.

Would love to get your feedback and see about working your suggestions into our process.

Any other questions, comments, or suggestions on how we can improve the cigar shopping experience for you are more than welcome as well.

Thanks!

Hi Ryan, I have never had an issue with how my packages show up.

Hey Ryan,

First off, thank you for being a valuable asset to this great site!

As I member who has ordered from you in the past, I think the only thing would be the adding of a Boveda pack. I usually go with standard shipping, so the cigars are usually on the road for a week or so. Does it really make a difference in the end? I don't know. But I believe that the companies that already have this method of shipping get extra "props" for showing they care regardless.

Just my .02 cents.

So far so good Ryan....My only problem right now is how to get 3 or 4 of those Kristoffs in my mouf at one time.....

Never had any issues with shipping, Ryan. Bubble has always worked well for me. I'm sure if you threw in a Boveda pack NO ONE would complain.

Everything I've ordered from Famous has come just fine. They spend so little time in transit I don't know that a boveda is necessary.

I get 7-10 days of transit time in New Mexico, so don't suffer from very fast deliveries using the cheap/free option. I like Famous' packaging, and the freebie cigars they throw in once in a while. If you throw in a boveda, maybe saran wrap it all together.

Well, many of us have the discipine to let our shipments acclimate in our own 'dors when they arrive.
Of course, AFTER sampling at least ONE ROTT (right off the truck). :D In a pourous cardboard box, would
a Boveda REALLY make much of a difference, at all? IF all the sticks were sealed into a giant ziplock bag,
perhaps, LOL.

I'm due to give you guys another slice of my biz soon. My orders have been bubble wrapped on the 5-ers
& singles, and air-pillows to close the emptiness. I think it's just fine at this point. Thanks for coming here
to ask us.

Just fill it up completely with random singles....tada. Better for the environment ya know.

I think they're fine as is. They ship wet so I have no problem with them shipping without a boveda packet.

Thanks for thinking of us Ryan! I have never had any issues with Famous except for a non-working digital hydrometer which I was credited for from Famous! If anything maybe a small boveda for the packages that go further, but I get mine in 2 days which is nice :)

Gotta agree I'd rather them come without the Boveda or at least not one over 70RH. Ive gotten orders in the past, not sure if they were from Famous, with 72RH and even 75RH Bovedas. I appreciate the intent but thats just way too wet.

My only contribution would be that 5ers come in those awesome finger bags so we can reuse them

That is an awesome idea Cole.
Stamp them with the Famous logo so as they go around the country on those bomb runs you get the name out there Ryan.

Famous / CA is always my first choice and the packaging has always been great.
I'm very lucky that it's one day shipping for me so Boveda would be an unnecessary cost but probably would be a good idea outside the 2 day shipping circle. (Let those who want to opt out do so if they want to let them start lowering rh on the trip.)

Some kind of "cold" ship option in the summer would be nice...

I basically avoid cigar purchases in the summer because I would rather they don't sit in hot, hot, hot shipping trucks for days at a time. The places that I order my beer brewing supplies offer this to help protect yeast.

I appreciate the feedback! Glad to hear you are all generally very satisfied with our packaging and have made some great comments. The bovedas aren't entirely necessary especially for the shipments that aren't in transit for very long, would mostly just be an added measure for care on the longer shipments. They can always come in handy afterwards, and also a nice bonus if sending out bombs. I agree, if we were to decide to do this regularly, it should be an option that customers can choose to opt out of.

The 5er finger bags is a great idea though, I definitely think that's an idea worth implementing here. Especially if stamped with our logo. Thanks!

We tried, but our search history of drones and bombs got us blacklisted from the program. :behindsofa: :fly:

Really cool idea but those packs only work for like one day. By the time I get my orders the pack is warm and the yeast have been on their own for however long. Even the yeast we get overnighted for the brewery usually arrives with a warm cold pack.

Thanks for soliciting feedback from us bums! First and most important, I've always been really happy with how things show up from Famous.

I've always valued a little Boveda pack in my shipments. They're a nice touch, and with summer approaching, it can make quite a difference to the cigars in transit.

The five finger bags would be nice as well, both those and the Bovedas could be repurposed when sending out bombs or shipping to the troops.

Thanks again for asking!

I've had them show up 3-4 days after shipping with the pack still cool (Wyeast activator still flat)...

This is when it's 85*-90* in the North East. Maybe that good ole Southern heat is too much?

They usually have the yeast and cold pack wrapped up in an insulated pack.

Maybe. All I know is I stopped paying the extra $1 for it because they were never cold when I got them lol.

Actually, there's one thing that would be amazing but is unfortunately unrealistic because of the cost in such volume...freezing all cigars so beetles would never be an issue.

Ryan
Well my list is REALLY long on the history of purchases from you guys and man I wouldn't spend the $$$ on the packs if I were you. Why add the expense when you would just have to pass it onto us. I think most of us would rather you guys keep doing what your doing the way your doing it. I don't really see any reason for the added expense myself but that's just me.

To answer your original question. I think you guys are doing great! Never have I ever had a problem with a shipment from you guys. Sometimes the cigars seem like they are bouncing around in the box but they always look good when they are opened up at my pad.
I really do like the tag alongs you all send!
Cheers
Jay
