Been a big discussion going on in a few provinces up here in Canada over the last little while. Just seen a news feed saying my home province (Nova Scotia) is putting in legislation to ban all flavored tobacco products including menthol cigarettes. I guess they're allowing things like wine and rum flavored cigars of 5g or more, to stay for now but they're even trying to take out e-smoking products. I was never a big cigarette smoker and did usually prefer menthol, especially when I had a cold/sore throat, but if they didn't have it I'd just buy regular cigs. All it's going to do is force people to buy out of province and hurt the convenience store's sales. Not to mention they're estimating at least 5 million lost in taxes alone, which I think might be underestimated because it will be pushing more people to shop for them and other items elsewhere (across the border to New Brunswick/ internet etc...).

Couldn't get the video to appear right here for some reason but link to it is right here if anyone's interested.

May well be that "they" do know....but don't care since "we" don't matter. Anymore than most folks care about ants they might be stepping on.

I don't get this. Tobacco is already age restricted to 18 or 21 and over depending on the jurisdiction...It's already in the purview of adults, so why more banning and restriction. Oh yeah, taxes....Yet another reason to tax something that's already regulated to death and taxed to the hilt even more. It's for children's health stuff right? How can anyone be against it if it benefits disadvantaged children?

So tired of some government telling us how to live our lives while they suck down martini lunches. They can KMA...
