I don't know if she liked it but her doll did.

Then we colored Easter Eggs, again. Too late you say? There is no time limit on coloring Easter Eggs for kids! It's for next year anyways.

Chillin' (and I do mean chillin' - temp back down in the 40s but I'm too lazy to drag the heater back into the smoking tent) with some homemade flake in a Dr. G Omega. This flake is a real tobacco salad - started out with Prince Albert, added some VA, burley, latakia, perique, a few other things, topped with DW and rum. Not too bad, but too many competing flavors. Landon, that's the refrain of all pipe smokers, "I should have gotten more."

Just finished last and starting:
1996 Samuel Gawith 1792 Flake in a 1961 Barling's Make #7574 smooth canadian.

Still a pronounced Lakeland essence but the tobacco has aged very well (I opened it in 2014 and stored in a mason since). Moves like a defensive lineman who could still dance ballet and a it has a great snork. Very firm but not pushy.

I'm like a dog at the end of his leash, always reaching and hoping for more but my wallet won't allow it!

As for the 1792, would you classify it as Lakeland? I never got any soapyness or floral notes out of it but the tonquin bean flavor is definite.

Finished up that small flake of Orlik and now going to move on to a Schizo cigar. Going to run a few errands now.

Good question. I'd call it a Lakeland because there's more (that I smell) in there than just tonquin and it's pretty heavy (for me). I don't (can't?) distinguish the individual aromas in Lakelands so when a Gawith (either company) mixture is heavily top sauced I think Lakeland.

I was drawn to it in 1996, because of the tonquin, when I was realized that my Elephant & Castle stash was shrinking fast. McConnell (E&C) used coumarin that's related to tonquin (both extracted from the tonka bean). McConnell used coumarin sparingly while the Gawiths and Germain can have a heavy hand with tonquin but the 1792 is a very good tobacco, well made and with a lot of flavor.

How's that Red Rapp doing for you?

I found this tobacco to be pleasant but I was into the Stonehaven and FVF, but she could always know when I smoked Moe's Confetti. After that I tried to fool her but she always knew when I smoked this tobacco; she would say that I was smoking "Mark's tobacco". I have since stopped trying to fool her; she always knew. I stocked up on this tobacco and jarred it. Quite frankly I don't know a thing about this tobacco except that it is a nice smoke and in all this time I have not come across any posts on the old Puff Forum of any one else smoking it; how she knows I will never know.:idunno: I am topping off this smoke with a small glass of brandy with a happy wife enjoying the smoke.:beerchug:

After watching 19 innings of Red Sox vs Yankees, I'm too tired to pack a pipe. Coffee and a cigarette this morning.

A almost 7 hour game will do that.

I was a baseball fan, complete with the statistics trivia package, until 1994, when the players wouldn't even play the World Series. Haven't watched a single professional baseball game since, and some years have managed to avoid even knowing who won the World Series.

Watching the Masters all day today and tomorrow! Lots of piping! :pipe: Right now, yet another bowl of RY in the 4Dot. And more coffee!

Mostly 1792 with a bit of ODF scraps in a small clay tavern pipe. Drinking chai, watching the Nats. I didn't watch more than a minute of the Masters today, but I did manage to get 9 in. Wide open course, got paired with an older gentleman. We finished in just over an hour and a half, him riding, me walking. I parred the first two holes and then it fell apart. I've inexplicably added about 20 yards to all my clubs in the offseason and sailed a couple of greens. I think I'm going to start using round time instead of score as a bench mark :pipe:

In an unrelated note, I was so excited for some new Forever stems and when I checked the tracking I realized I accidentally had them shipped to an old address :banghead: It doesn't look like the new resident sent them back. Looks like I'll have to pay them a visit tomorrow :spy:

On an off topic note, are you a Jack Kirby fan? I ask because of your avatar.

Yes, I think it's fair to say I am a Kirby fan. While I gravitate mostly to DC these days, I do enjoy the classic Kirby-illustrated stories on Marvel.

Jack is my favorite comic book artist and his work is one of the reasons I became a comic book artist. We were friends for many years, too, so I think it's cool you use his work as your avatar. Jack mostly smoked cigars, but he did smoke pipes, too.

That's may be a Stokkebye blend - you might want to check out their dogs too?
