Jim,
If I listed 5 golfer professionals I'd only be an embarrassment showing my age. Ok, you talked me into it.
Jack Nicklaus
Sam Snead
Ben Hogan
Gary Player
Rod Laver
See, I told you.
Just finishing:
2015 Gawith Hoggarth Bright CR Flake in a 1984 Tilshead (James Upshall 2nd) smooth taper billiard.
I must say, I'm surprised Arnie didn't make the cut. Enjoying the nonpareil TwoDot apple full of BBF. 'Bout bedtime. BTW, I did indeed steal a draw in that game! I offered a draw, he refused, he diddled for a few moves, then (perhaps unwittingly) repeated the same position three times. For the first time in my life I CLAIMED a draw!

His refusal must make it sweeter. What's next, the Inter-zonals?
I had a choice, Arnold Palmer or Rod Laver. I think I made my point :).

I smoked Blakeneys Best Bayou Slice in a MM last night. Tried stacking the guillotined slices in the bowl and firing it up. Fought the first half staying lit, second half came into it's own. Tonight I rubbed it and things are looking up. It's a dank, toasty smoke.

First bowl - but I see you jumped in with both feet and got a whole jar full :) I picked up an ounce to test it out first. It's good stuff, but I probably won't get any more though, as it tastes just about exactly like the stuff I make (and I don't charge myself for shipping).
Already being a fan of LNF and hearing many people sing the praises of LBF I thought it was a safe gamble. I wasn't disappointed. If your flakes are on par then you're definitely doing something right.
Smoked a bowl of Bald Headed Teacher this morning in a GBD Sable.

Rattray's all have a Scottish origin, you are correct.
Ken McConnell wasn't quite sure which of the Rattray's formulas were originally created by Rattray or McConnell except for Red Rapparree and Marlin Flake that he felt were McConnell created formulas. In truth, since McConnell made the Rattray line for many years the formulas were all changed perhaps many times over the years so that they were McConnell formulas but that doesn't affect it's origin. Of course the Rattray line is made by Kohlhase in Germany since 1989.
Ken McConnell felt that the Red Rapp was one of his finest creations. I do too. Make mine German! Open the Rapp!

I'm a convert, always buy more for so many reasons that are not ageing. It's a very personal investment - you know the value.
Pardons, I took you too literally. Carl Ehwa founded McClelland and in 1977 that looked more impressive on a tin than Ehwa. but I don't know if the name has any significance.

Changed the pace with an 8yo Fonseca 1907 Churchill.
Ran tests and did all I could to clear debris from the ponds. Stream's a mess and needs some repair. I was fishing leaves when one wiggled, it was a 3yo black moor named Ricky who was on his side between the leaves. He made the Winter but that's all. Bye Rick, you made Lucy a widow.
I threw in a few pellets of Spring/Fall feed but there were no takers. The ammonia level was elevated (no filtration over the Winter) so I decided to incrementally add pond AmQuel and test/add more over the coming week as needed.
Took the dog outside and she started barking at the pond and there was one of the Koi. Then another. I counted 6 fish that look good including Lucy (we got her with Ricky). Hopefully there are more to be seen but it made my day.

RY for the first morning in a while! Guess I'm rejoicing in the melting snow. :chicken: (Probably shouldn't do that so early in the morning.)
Grabbed another pipe from the computer room that I haven't smoked in a LONG while, the worth Bari Dana. Combining size, clench comfort, perfect drill, pleasing shape, and excellent smoking qualities, it would be hard to say it's not my best all 'round pipe. I should smoke it more often! :pipe:
Just curious. What's the lower word (character count?) limit for a post to count as a post? I sometimes post multiple line replies that don't seem to have any effect on the statistics. I rarely post anything of the "me too" variety that such a rule would filter out, but perhaps I'm the victim of a well-intentioned rule. I can think of other inequities such a rule imposes, such as the absolutely, irrefutably best short answer to a newbie question not getting into the post-count end zone.

No fear of Captain Black tongue scorch here. It behaves itself very well. No tongue bite at all and the cherry is very mild.
Let us know what you thought!
I'd say overall, it is a decent smoke. The cherry topping is done well. No cough syrup flavor to it. Smokes dry too. It kind of reminds me of Devil's Holiday but with less balls lol [emoji14]
A good morning smoke. But anything past coffee time and I'd be wanting more. Something to keep on hand though, if you like cherry and berry. Which I do. A lot.

This is a smaller pipe (for me) and the PS-LNF has mixed well with more potent GH so I decided to mix the last of the Glengarry and it's downright bad. Glengarry is very light but the combination smokes without any of the better characteristics of either. It's just aggressive with and edge and not much flavor.

Well it is the same cob I smoke Devil's Holiday and Firedance Flake in. So it was already berry ghosted. But judging from the smell and the way it left my mouth feeling (typical oil mouth feel of an aro) I am sure it would ghost any pipe pretty badly.

Ricky (the fish) is not dead. We acquired both he and Lucy (a Lionhead goldfish with a white body and red head - that's why she's Lucy and he's Ricky) from my daughter-in-law, who saved them from a filthy 4 gallon tank at her school. I thought Ricky wouldn't make the night and when my wife saw him in such distress she began bawling.
It turns out that she equated Lucy with Ashley (daughter-in-law) and Ricky with my son.
Ricky's now in a MASH unit I constructed for him where I've brought the water temp back into the 60s (from low 40s), reduced the ammonia (that was in the pond), added salt and balance the PH. God love the little guy, he's able to stay submerged and is now (sometimes) swimming upright. There may be hope yet.

Bowl two with a shift from the 4Dot to the Legend Forever, RY, full astern! "IIIII'mmmm DREAMing of a white....Easter...." Uh...no, I'm awake! A little snow this morning, but the melt continues! Golf in a week!
The golf Karma Gods are laughing at me...
Trying to get an early tee time for tomorrow morning...but snow is in the forecast and it was 22 degrees when I woke up this morning...I don't think my dreams of an 8 o'clock tee time tomorrow are realistic :(
As soon as it warms up a bit, I am going to comfort myself with a bowl of Storm Front to go along with my coffee.

I can't play in the morning at all. When we have to tee off at 8 in scrambles, I'm useless until we get to the hole with the keg. I think I might have won a city championship if they hadn't changed the championship flight tee times to morning during my prime years. Traditionally, the championship flight always tees off in the afternoon, but morning people took over the committee and changed it, so that they could play at their preferred time. One of the driving motivators to improving my game was so that I could tee off LATE!! :banghead:

Go for it! I'm envious! To be honest, if there was a course open and it would get into the 40s during the round -- and no wind! -- I'd play. Haven't seen a fairway since November. Warm your golf balls before you go out there. A warm ball goes WAY farther than a cold one.

I can't promise no wind, and there will be rain haha. But when you are as desperate to swing a club on a course as I am right now...you just gotta go for it :D

The pipes have been pretty much gathering dust for a couple of weeks, other than a bowl here and there to finish off some open tins, but I decided to pop one tonight and grabbed a tin of C&D Briar Fox. I tried this several years ago, and I thought of it mainly as the "bottom line"; it was the best Virginia I never reordered after the first tin. I figured I couldn't smoke 'em all, and had to draw the line somewhere. Well, that ate on me for about four years and I finally gave up and ordered three tins about a year ago. After having a bowl tonight, I've got to say that this delay was a mistake; I should have been adding this to my cellar all along. Maybe I can't smoke them all, but there's no way I should have ignored this one!
