Starting my day with a huge bowl of Carter Hall in an absolute monster of a Canadian. It's a hand made Mastro de Paja Limited Edition that makes my Savinelli KS Canadian look like a dainty lady's pipe in comparison. Really don't know what I was thinking when I bought this behemoth. A beautiful pipe but it takes forever to smoke a full bowl in this thing.

The Red Sox have put their 11th consecutive victory in the books, and after a lunch of Manhattan clam chowder, (liberally spiced up with Tabasco), and a few Ritz crackers on the side, I've turned my attention to the Dodgers game and Vin Scully's final broadcast. My companion for the game is a MM Diplomat filled with R.O.'s Acadian VaPer.
I've used Tabasco nearly my whole life. But for the past couple of years, Cholula has become my favorite hot sauce.
Now puffing Escudo in my venerable Kirsten Mariner. Perique is the Tobasco of tobaccos!

Makes for decent relief for a sore throat too, believe it or not; gargle with a teaspoonful or so and swallow.
Capsaicin is a nerve blocker, the relief kicks in as the burn diminishes - 'bout 10 minutes or so.

H&H Anni Kake in a pipe I rarely smoke because of it's size. The pipe is a GBD Collector model 1689 bent apple with a broad rectangular shank and a rather unusual hand cut saddle type vulcanite stem with a brass rondelle set in the top of the stem. The Collector was one of their three plus size lines with the Colossus being the largest and the Collector second followed by Conquest. GBD pipes are notoriously difficult to date, but I believe this one to be from the late 60's.

I find it to be pretty mild, a good choice for a morning smoke.
By the way, you're going to love that pipe. I was surprised to see that it's handmade because it doesn't say on the site, and I figured at that price it had to be machine made. One thing about this pipe though, like every Mastro De Paja I've had, the bowl tends to heat up quickly until you get a fair thickness of cake built up. If it's like the others it will take 5 or 6 bowls of Carter Hall to build the insulation I want in it. Just be patient and take it slow and you'll be rewarded with a fine smoker.

Well we finished with the Inn,Finally. The plans are that the college is going to demolish the buildings,so we've
been pulling trim,light fixtures,toilettes,sinks,etc.Basicly deconstructering,but carefully.Worked 14 hrs thursday
and 12 yesterday trying to finish on time. Now comes the fun part.About a billion nails to pull.Have to reorganize
the storage.Help my nephew build a two story house.Move his stuff in,which includes a 300 gallon fish tank and
stand.Gotta take care of my little Brother,he's the one brought me a fifth of Johnny Walker Red.Good Kid!!
Anywho,Got to sleep in today, got up at 7 rather than 6.Started off with a good soak in a Jetta tub,and yest the

It's been one of those days. Between the clogged drain in the kitchen, the unexpected, (and unwelcome), visit from a very drunk neighbor, and the blue screen of death on my laptop that required almost an hour of running utilities and tests to recover from, I was in a fairly crappy mood. When I finally got the chance to sit down and have a pipe I went through my open tins and couldn't find anything I wanted to smoke. So I decided one more open tin wouldn't mean the end of the world and I popped a 5 year old tin of Hal O' The Wynd, one of the greatest tobacco blends ever created. I loaded up a Mark Tinsky rusticated bent bulldog, put a match to it, and the clouds parted, the angels sang, and I'm in heaven.

I don't find it boring. In fact, I find it interesting. I don't smoke the same blend twice, though I used to for much of my smoking life. I also see a time coming in the future when I will again, and if I'm still on pipe forums, I'll post the repeats. Others do it. This thread is a record of what we do, and it's nice to have a complete picture of people's smoking choices, so please post your repeats, and don't worry about it, man.

Sometimes I like to read reviews of a tobacco while smoking it and see if I can detect all the flavors that those with more discerning palates than my own find. I have chosen as my final pipe of the day H&H Anni Kake, a blend that I thoroughly enjoy and find no flaws in. So I went to TobaccoReviews.com and was scanning the posts when I came across one that gave it a one star rating. In the post the reviewer compared it to burning tires and spilled diesel and went on to say it turned his pipe into a "goopy mess". Under similar blends he listed Prince Albert and Carter Hall but said they were both far better than Anni Kake. He also stated the tobacco was in a bag and he purchased it at a cigar shop. Makes me wonder just what was in that bag.

It's not a new idea by any means. I remember others here pursuing the same goal, that is to finish smoking all of the small quantities of tobaccos in baggies that I have accumulated. They are mostly tobacco blends acquired from bombings from all the generous bums here over the last couple of years. Other baggie lots are leftover from when I jar up a quantity of tobacco and just can't fit anymore in the jars, then it goes in a baggie and then into a quart Mason jar. Anyway that's what I am doing. Last night I had a bowl of Peter Stokkebye Cube Cut in a Stanwell Deluxe billiard. I really enjoy this blend!

Thanks, last time I checked they hadn't produced any since April and didn't know when they would again. It appears they have them now.
edit: still can't place an order. I've sent them an email and will post the info I get from them.

Last time I 'needed' (we all know pipe accessories are needs) a Forever stem, I called them and the guy on the phone told me what was available and I picked from that.

No I haven't. I'm not one for ready rubbed if I can get the same blend in flake... or better yet, plug. I always go for the biggest lump so I can monkey with it myself :D The exception of course is when the 'same blend' isn't really the same blend - like G&H Black Irish X and Black Twist Sliced; supposedly the 'same tobacco' according to a few retailers but the sliced is topped with something delicious and the rope is not.
