Working on a bowl of My Mixture 965. Wondering how long my cob will last, it's showing signs of the end. The 965 is interesting, I got huge, bold citrus notes on my first light, and then on subsequent lights it swapped very quickly to an earthy, woody, smoky profile.

I'm the same way with burleys. I'm generally not a fan (with a couple of exceptions like Irish Flake and Orlik Dark Strong Kentucky).
I have heard that the Aged Burley Flake is nice and sweet though and I do enjoy tobaccos with a lot of natural sweetness. It is on my short list to order.

I really like the flavors cube cutting tends to bring out.
My only problem is that I prefer to just gravity fill the cube cut, but I also like to keep my ash relatively clean. It is hard to dump the ash when your tobacco wants to fall out with it!
But some flakes are worth the hassle.

If you're smoking outside, just loosen the ash a bit with a pick and blow lightly across the bowl. That's what I do, it just whisks away the ash and leaves the heavier, un-burned tobacco behind.

Last night had some McClelland 2015 (so smooth with a year and a half of age on it), while chatting with my brother-in-law over some beer until 2:30 this morning.
Good beer.
Good tobacco.
Good company.
Good times.

Earlier, it was Peretti’s Ultra Light in a 1975 medium bend sandblasted looking, smooth on the sides yellow Pioneer meer with a black vulcanite stem. Now, it's PCCA Millennium 2000 in a 1970s smooth straight rough top Charatan's Make (Lane) Perfection Deluxe Extra Large and a black vulcanite stem.
I'm getting a lot of error and off-line messages when I try to post, which is getting annoying. Anybody else having problems like that?

Finishing up a bowl of Rattray's Marlin Flake in a cob. Man I love this stuff.
Next will be Mississippi River in a Rossi Prince. It was suggested that I try it in briars rather than cobs, so I'll give it a whirl.

Dunhill Nightcap with a garnish of Samuel Gawith Chocolate Flake on top.
Pretty dang good! There was only about 1/8" or less on top but it tasted of Chocolate Flake halfway down before fading into more or less straight Nightcap

I'm having so much trouble staying connected on this forum, mainly getting error messages every time I post. I have reboot the page, sometimes several times, before I can do anything. Hopefully, this will get fixed, but in the meantime, I'm going to take forum break, and perhaps the problem will be solved by the time I return.

Smoking a fill of Escudo in my reliable Kirsten. Then off to Lorna's Italian Kitchen for lunch: Italian sausage with roasted peppers, and a chopped antipasto salad. And a bottle of Moretti. Life is good!
Edit: Sure wish I knew where to buy a green felt fedora like the one worn by the guy pictured on the bottle of Moretti beer.

2015 Gawith Hoggarth Louisiana Flake in a 1982 James Upshall bX, triangle shanked saddle billiard with a gold band.
The way I'm smoking this tobacco you'd think that it's all I have. The tobacco was quite dry and it smoked with less distinction and hotter, I just prefer it on the moist side.
Hope that you had as beautiful a day as we had here in South Eastern NY.
