Lol.
I think I got it in a big package from Tobias Lutz.
I love how we try them all and pass along what's not for us. It is a really cool community.
For sure.
IIRC that was the same package that my first sample of SG Navy Flake was in, which is one of my absolute favorites. :)

Been so busy. So, so busy. I have been smoking, just not as much, and obviously I haven't been checking in as much. Hopefully everyone's well.
I have a bowl of Capstan waiting to be torched which I'll dig in to here shortly, and then this afternoon I'll followup with my lovely lady Ennerdale. That seems like a great one-two punch.
I still need to order Bengal Slices, and I'm holding off on Warhorse until I can get the plug. I still need to order SG's Cabbie's Mixture. And I just placed an order through the store for St. Bruno, which the vendor assures me will be available in April... Looks like it'll be priced at the same rate as Capstan, so pricey but still less than it would cost to order from the UK. Looks like I can finally break open some more of the packages of the imported stuff that I've been hanging on to!
Seriously, I hope everyone's well!

Smoked some C&D Poplar Camp last night.
I'm having a hard time syncing up with this Vaper. It consistently strikes me as dry and peppery. Not what I'm looking for. Yes, there are subtle underlying notes and sweetness, but not enough to balance the dry pepperiness.
I bet a cigar smoker would enjoy it.

St. Bruno, Gold Block, and Amphora are all returning to the US (under distribution by MacBaren/Sutliff) by April, so that's why I can get those. Unfortunately, Condor isn't... Although I think with Capstan, and now these, finally being imported again, we may see some of these other tobaccos slowly make their way here too.

I like it.
It is very similar to OGS in the tin. Long rolled up flakes. The texture and moisture is nearly identical.
It really even tastes similar, but Gatsby Flake has more flavor. Kind of a fuller, more complex OGS. It's a good VA flake IMO.
I've tried 2 of the DE blends now and love them both. Meat Pie is a good straightforward English blend.
The rest of them are aromatics, so I'll probably just stick with these two from DE.

McClelland Yenidje Highlander in a MM General - packed Hanna's air pocket method, which works wonderfully in a pipe with these proportions.
I can't imagine one could use the air pocket method in a lot of pipe shapes (apple, prince, tomato, squat bulldog, small billiard, wide pot), but the MM General is basically a Chimney shape and narrow enough and well suited (especially for the pipe neophyte) to get the wad of tobacco rightly situated to channel all the virtues of the blend and none or few of its vices.
"Air pocket" as a philosophy may confine you. Smoke what you want, pack any way you want, in any pipe you want, and learn yourself by trial and error. You might learn that the elders are right, but you may also learn that you are right, so experiment and fail until you get your own groove and discover your own peak smoking experience.

Its one of Rich's House Blends I picked up today at their shop downtown. Its complex and sweet and smoky in a fashion that brings to mind the exotic locales the tobaccos hail from. Sweet and mild while maintaining a robust flavor profile, an intriguing blend for any smoker.

I need to limit my computer time a little for a while, so I'm taking a break from this forum. Everything's okay, just busy, and I have to make a few choices on how I spend my time on the internet for a bit.
I missed this during my scrolling and was starting to get worried.
Amsterdam 83 the sample bag say's, just enough to taste twice today.....

Had a wild hair and packed a bowl of Lane 1Q.
About 1/3 of the way through it I wondered what the hell I was thinking and smoked a bowl of Drew Estate Meat Pie to get the taste out of my mouth. :pipe:
