2012 Rolando’s Own in a 2002 black short shank grain relief straight Caminetto 6.L.17 tomato.

I had a couple of ounces of this I bought about 2012. I hydrated it a little and IMHO it made it better. The crispy state Russ sends out his tobacco is just not my preference. I shouldn't try to second guess a mavin like him, but I am an opinionated old man.

We totally agree on this. I'm not much for dry tobacco. It loses too much flavor and burns hotter. I know there are a few who disagree, but I defer to my taste buds on this subject.

Nothing!!!

I've smoked nothing for about 3 days!!! No pipes, no cigars, no vaping, no Djarums, no RYO ciggies, nothing, no nicotine at all.

Had some kind of bug for a couple days that gave me headaches and made it difficult to stay awake at work. I think I'm over it now, but then I threw my back out this morning. I think a good case of jock itch would pretty well round things out :)

Currently making falafel. I'm starving due to not having dinner last night due to having gone to a turkey party - which is apparently a regional thing - and drinking too much.

For those who don't know: turkey parties are giant raffles, and sort of like bingo for people who don't like bingo. Yes, you can win a turkey, which is why they all happen before Thanksgiving. Typically they are run by and benefit local organizations, so band/sports boosters from the local high schools, police, churches, etc. You can not only "play the tickets" (pull tab lotto) during these events, but they have 50/50s, Chinese auctions (although I've never seen a Chinese person being auctioned...), doorprizes, grand prizes (which are usually in the form of either a big cash win in the thousands of dollars OR a giveaway of a bunch of rifles and shotguns), and then raffles all night for various items that range from turkeys to steak platters to spa packages, movie tickets, bikes, electronics, grills, lots of hunting equipment, bags of groceries, or even toys for kids (I suppose this came about due to the proximity to Christmas), etc. etc. etc.

My wife has a bit of a gambling problem and she's insanely lucky, so she loves the stupid things. I personally don't care for them but the beer is free so I go.

Anyway, my wife won some gift cards and cash last night but I walked away with the bigger prize: a frozen turkey, a four foot long stick of pepperoni, $20 in cash, and a 32" TV - all from the same ticket! I'm the talk of the town, sadly.

Once this falafel is finished I'm headed out for some Capstan or FVF or Hamborger Veermaster. Have all three ready to go but I'm currently unsure which will get burned.

Two bowls of Pure Semois, Bavarian Cherry from a local tobacconist and SG Black Cherry Twist. I enjoyed all except for the Black Cherry Twist. It had a bit of a "soapy" taste that faded in and out....

Been up since 4:30 despite going to bed after midnight. Ugh. Went out for a very small bowl of Royal Yacht in the very small David Huber sqigglyfish, one of his first pipes.

I'm heading into work a bit early so that I can pop out at 8:30 to take my wife to her next babydoc checkup. We may or may not find out the sex today, I thought we would but I guess the midwife mentioned that the appt may be about a week too early to tell. I left the Paul Olsen B93 tin on my desk so that's what I'll be smoking at the office today in the Polish Albin horn which is the next in the rotation, I think.

Does anyone have a new P&C 20% off code? I was informed by my wife that there's something she wants to buy me for Christmas and my package that arrived on the 13th had a promo card that expired on the 15th. Figured I could save her a few bucks.

Thanks Pete! The doc is making us wait until the next appointment (12/8) to figure out if we're getting a booger or a princess, but I did get to watch an ultrasound of the kiddo doing somersaults and cartwheels so that was pretty much the most awesome thing ever!

Really digging this My Own Blend B93 and wishing it was still available. I'm glad I jumped on the opportunity to pick up this 100g tin when I did. The description says the leaf is aged up to three years, so that dates some of the tin's contents to the 1999 crop.

Cut me the slack I deserve as one of the worst Blind Taste Test contestants in pipe-smoking history, and I'll guess a few. That Sherlock Holmes stuff -- can't remember who makes that. It's been a while, but it also bears a resemblance to Kendal Kentucky. Then again, it could be one of those bulk McClellands. Whatever, it hits the spot! Haven't gotten to the smaller bag or the PA. So...what's in the smaller (still a full ounce!!) baggie?

I have been in extreme pain today. My stomach hurts most of the time now, then comes the nausea. I took all the medicine I am allowed, and then some. Nothing helped. I just went out and smoked a bowl of Royal Yacht. The pain stopped! I don't know how that works, but I am thankful. I was trying to decide whether to go to the emergency room or just give up before that pipe.

This evening I am having a bowl of my blend of Ashtons Artisan blend with Dunhill's Nightcap in my Extra Large Rossi freehand.:piper: I was digging thru my stash and came across my tin with my special blend and noted that I had one bowl left so here it goes; it is delicious-really hit my special spot.:angel: Tomorrow I will have to remake my special blend, but for this evening I am enjoying these delicious wisps of smoke.:wave: I am topping off this pipe with a large ice cold mug of "Guinness Draught" brew and I am almost totally relaxed.:beerchug:

It's unlike me not to have mentioned it before, especially in it's tragic scope, but I smoke this bowl is to honor the French people.

My thoughts are with the families of those who were killed and wounded and I hope that this latest atrocity will force the politicians off their easy chairs and into action.

I popped open a tin of Hal O The Wynd that has about five years age on it ( since I bought it). It was swollen so I thought I should open it before it popped on its own. It has a strong fermented smell and taste, sort of like smoking mash. I am sure a little air and time will clear that.

Working through some samples a friend sent me while I clean some estates for another friend. Currently smoking some Finck's Extra Mild Cavendish in an MM Patriot while cleaning the stems from a Nording and Comoy.

Just finished...
2015 Mixture "606" in a 1985 Ser Jacopo R1 (rusticated) Maxima canadian with Pub Blend coffee (light) courtesy of @GWBowman (http://www.cigarbum.com/forum/members/gwbowman.html) on a dreary and cold day.

This mixture continues to evolve but pretty much as anticipated. This pipe was returned (~1986) because the customer felt that it was burning out but the 'hole' was just a chip in the cake. The stem was chunky and not refined and clearly not made by Massimo Palazzi so on a later trip to Italy I had him reduce the bite and it's an elite smoker.

Now smoking:
2015 Mixture "G" in a 1985 Ser Jacopo Renaissance #313 (sandblast) taper apple with white stem.

Both of these pipes are from 1985, first year of the Coral Dot logo, and when Ser Jacopo was at their peak. This Renaissance has quickly established itself as an uber-elite smoker, incredibly accurate and one of my best, but when it arrived, in 1985, it caused friction with Ser Jacopo because of it's white stem (should have been black) that effectively ended the Renaissance line (though they made a couple more in 1986). My bad.
