I wanted something quick and easy so I popped open a jar of 5 Bros from the American production with many years of age on it. It was as dry as dust and about the same consistency. I went ahead and loaded a MM Patriot and lit up. It still tastes like 5 Bros. That pipe only lasted about five minutes, but it put out the low nicotine light.

New forum rule: you and Alligator Gar must cease mentioning the 320KS. Thanks to the impending little one I'm under a self-imposed spending halt but PAD is hitting me hard and the Sav Bianca Author is calling to me like a siren's song.
Heck, TAD's hitting me hard too. I have to walk past a shelf of Capstan, FVF, IF, and Dunhill Flake every day, and I can't help but think how great the tins would look tucked away in my cellar.
Currently burning 2010 FVF in the Herbaugh. The rain's coming off & on, the wind's picking up, but it's still comfortable enough to be outside.

This evening I am smoking some "Dunhill Early Morning Pipe" in my extra large Rossi freehand.:pipe: I have not smoke this blend in more than 6 months and while I was digging thru my stash this tobacco blend "popped out at me" and I could not resist. My tobacco this evening is so very nice and flavorful; I just might have a second bowl after this one finishes. I am topping off this smoke with an ice cold mug of "Becks" brew and I am feeling mellow.:beerchug:

Morning Andy,
I like Buffalo and Rex Ryan and I root for them as much as a Jets fan possibly can but they are in a real bad way today against the Jags.
I absolutely felt that this team needed an attitude, and Rex was the right guy to bring it. I also absolutely felt that his troubles in NY were because of Woody, but I'm realizing that Rex's problems are equally his own fault.
He's a defensive genius but can't generate pressure with one of the better front fours in the league. He's blitzing like crazy and exposing huge gaps in the field that decent QBs can exploit. This team was supposed to ride the defense but the whole thing is falling flat. I'm less concerned about the offense, but I figured by now we'd be seeing more than what we've gotten...
Frankly, the whole thing is a mess. Thankfully, I was the ONLY Bills fan not expecting the playoffs this year but I did expect to be a wild card contender.

Hi Andy,
Not to get too much off topic but I think that the Bills have a strong front four but Rex is best in a 3-4 and he hasn't used that good DL effectively. He also drops guys off into coverage (and Mario Williams, perhaps among others doesn't like that). I don't see the Bills well prepared and that's on Rex.
Jacksonville just can't close and have kept the Bills in the game.

If this gets screwed up, I've created untold work for myself. If it goes off without a hitch... Well, I still have hours of work before the site can go live, but at least the biggest hurdle will have been hopped.

About four years ago I jarred up a quarter can of Red Raparee. Wasn't in the mood for anything in particular this morning so on a whim I grabbed it.
I can't say if it's the age of the tobacco or the pipe, as I've never smoked it this old and I've never smoked it in this particular craggytop McCarter, but this is one of the best bowls of tobacco I've ever had the pleasure of enjoying. It started out seriously floral which I absolutely loved, and then it became creamy with a decent bit of pepper offset by a citrusy tang and pure sweet tobacco goodness. At times I noticed salty and sour notes that could be separate or complementary, and the floral character has come back for bits of time, and while light in character I want to call it rich. What a treat.

In all seriousness, I am going bald. And, I'm on track to report over 140 hours for the past two weeks when payroll is called in. So there's that, I guess.
Just finished working for the evening. It was in the low 40s through this afternoon, pouring down rain all day. It became extremely windy a few hours ago for a short time, a thunderstorm rolled through, and now it's in the low 60s. Very, very, very weird. http://www.niceashnews.com/blucover/whiskeykake.jpg
I only opened it for a minute, honest. It's back under pressure already. I'm not sure why there's a large, slightly sticky mass in the center (where it's noticeably darker) - maybe because I had to jury rig the whole thing and I'm pressing it unevenly, so it's forcing some of the moisture to that area - but that's not a big concern. This stuff is oily as heck and it smells absolutely divine. I will say that for using only a touch of latakia, 5%, it smells fairly strongly of it. And the perique, which accounts for 20%, is very pungent too.
Anyway, I'm putting my pipe down and lighting up a Behike. Haven't had a cigar in a while, and I've earned this one. I also brought a smidge of Pappy rye and a smidge of EH Taylor rye, so that'll be my late lunch.

Relaxing with a bowl of 2011 Villiger Maryland No. 333 in a 2003 straight grain Karl Erik Ekstravagant A medium bend freehand sitter. I figured correctly that MacBaren Pure Virginia lingers in a pipe even if you ream the bowl, so I'll purge it. Memo to self: don't smoke those kinds of tobaccos in one of your best smokers.

Smoker’s Pride Rich Taste in a mid-late 1930s straight black grain relief Dunhill OX Shell bulldog with a silver band repair. Don't much notice the MacBaren Pure Virginia in this smoke. Shouldn't take long to get it out. This is the first time I have smoked a burley in this pipe in the 13 years I have owned it.

I'm beginning to realize that I could get away with stocking Capstan Blue, Royal Yacht, Marlin Flake, and any variation of SG or GH Kendal/Lakeland tobaccos, with maybe a tin or two of something Latakia-y from Pease or Oullette, and I'd never want for anything else.
