Out of everything that I sent ya, I would say it is a toss up between the Red Rap and Abingdon being my favorites. I concur on the creaminess, and I think it is one of the smoothest tobaccos that I have ever smoked.
Spring is in full 100% swing here, so my smoking is at a stand still until the pollen settles down. Part of the reason I have been missing around here as of late. But I have been self medicating my congestion with some Habanero powder that has been doing the trick .... :p
I self medicate with American Scotch snuffs or Abraxas Dragun which has some ground peppers mixed in the tobacco. I don't think I could bring myself to snuff Habanero powder up my nose. Oops, I just read the next post where you explained you eat it.

Smoking G&H Rum Twist in a Big Ben dublin. A little on the strong side, an essence of the "Essence", not really a rum flavor but still a good smoke. Definitely satisfying my craving this afternoon. Rain has come, and I'm toasty warm smoking this pipe on the deck watching the wind roar through the trees. Good stiff tobacco like it should be, I'm content.

Well, it's hard to say after just one bowl, but Medium Flake is like a little less sweeter Brown Flake with just a little less earth. I'll have a better feel for it after I smoke a few more bowls in the same pipe, since I dedicated one to the blend.

No flavoring, just baccy. It's not a straight up Burley though, there is some Virginia and Cavendish too. This was only my first bowl purchased based on my liking of OTC burley and Branzig talking up the sample he received from Emperor Zurg. The flavor is good but it had a slight bite I wasn't expecting.

FYI, I get bite from it if I don't let it dry a while. You can't tell how moist it is because of the ube cut but I've found that if I let it sit out for a few hours to half a day it burns better, tastes better and doesn't bite near as quick.

So funny how different people interpurt the same tobacco in so many different ways.
I get no bite at all from it and did detect a slight topping on it. Go figure
I know all the product information states there is no topping on it...but it seems a lot like Carter Hall to me. A slight sugar and cocoa adding. I guess it could just be the Cavendish, but I am still skeptical.
It is a great blend though. Especially in a cob with some coffee :pipe:

2015 Gawith Hoggarth Louisiana Flake in a 1987 Capitello Jonico I smooth taper billiard.
It's really pretty good stuff eh? I found that letting it sit out overnight has ridden it of much of the Lakeland snot I have been detecting in it. It also seemed to highlight a sugary cocoa topping a bit. Quality stuff, which is par for the course when it comes to GH&Co.
I might have another bowl of it...but on the other hand St. James Flake is kind of calling my name now...must be a VaPer kinda day.

I find that the difference in palettes , difference in technics , and difference in enviroment makes a load of differing reviews. That's the best thing about this hobby of ours,no two are alike.I'm going to give the Mixture #79 a try one of these days, just cause y'all don't like it.

Matthew,
Would you stick a fork in an electric socket because people say don't do it? Or press your hand onto the burner? At least have the decency to arrange for the disposition of your tobacco and pipes beforehand! :)
More 2015 Louisiana Flake in a Ser Jacopo Gemma Granato taper (stout) billiard with a silver/gold band that's inscribed with my name and the date that the boys at Jacopo made it for me, April 5th, 1983.
I'm going to add some mosquito corpses to the tobacco just to teach them critters a lesson (and maybe me too? Yes, I stuck the fork in a socket back in the day).

.
Amazingly, I once blew up a steak knife by cutting into a lamp cord that was plugged in, also caught my balance by placing my hand on a red-hot burner (amazing spiral blister) so yes to both questions,,,And I do have a tobacco disposal plan, my son has laid claim to my pipes, humis, cigars, and pipe tobaccos. Not to mention my Chess sets. And for all here who I've come to view as family EricS is my son and currently lives here with his SO and son, So I tend to share both my stashes with him. Although I've been a bit stingy and only gave him one pipe, a cheap chinese with a metal insert. So if that Mixture #79 is really that bad,,,,I'll give it to him. Teach him to raid my cellar.

Yeah, it's true I have smoked pipe tobaccos that I really didn't care for - or hated - because I don't believe in throwing tobacco away. And #79 actually isn't the worst stuff I have smoked, but it sure doesn't fit my personal taste. That will make it hard to rate since I like to write objective reviews, not ones that fit my preferences. I won't throw away what I don't smoke. I'll give it to some body at some point. I've done that many times with stuff I didn't like.

I survived smoking Mixture #79. I've had worse, but I doubt I will finish this gifted pouch.
I found M79 completely appalling. Didn't make it through more than 3 or 4 smokes of the stuff. Just terrible.
But then I discovered that mixing it 50/50 with Middleton's Apple (which by itself I found cloying), the result was something pretty decent. Like a spiced cider aro. I actually managed to finish off all the rest of the M79 and Apple that way.

Hey Matt,
Many reasons that I shouldn't do tobacco reviews and one would be my (original) comments about the PS Luxury Navy Flake where I summed it up by saying that I'd probably not buy any more of it. 3-lbs later....
I just looked and it appears that the Stokkebye flakes; Navy, Bulls-Eye and Twist have all gone up in price (substantially at P&C). No more $26/lb, now closer to $30+. Still an excellent value.

One. I just open a new tin every time it goes dry. There are some repeats in the eighty plus jars due to some containers being so large they won't fit into one jar, but not many. For most of my large quantities, I use Kilner jars which hold almost a pound.
