I enjoy OJK, though today I was wondering how it might taste with some Latakia added (I admit I like to add Latakia to anything, just to see what happens).
I'd say the burley is pretty noticeable, as is the nicotine it carries. There's still that nice raisiny VaPer tang to it, but more robust in flavor.

Lots of RY the past few days. Just watching an old Murder, She Wrote, and the key to everything is the Sikorsky Ploy, an imaginary chess maneuver that results in mate in 7. Now -- since chess plays a largish role in the episode, and there is a scene where the ploy is to be demonstrated, you'd think that SOMEBODY on the set would know how to set up a chessboard!! IDIOTS! Stuff like that drives me nuts.
Think I'll smoke down another bowl of RY in the CG Forever and hit the sack.

It is carter hall in a MM Legend at the recommendation of Branzig.
After a long delay between purchase and now due to a death in the family, I decided today was the day :)
I attempted packing with the frank method and results were, well I'm not really sure. Draw was very loose and it went out after about half the bowl. I am so new to this I really have no idea if I did things right or wrong, but I scraped off the ash and relit the unburnt tobacco and finished the bowl.
overall it was a pleasant experience, I did receive some harsh flavors due to I'm sure me puffing too fast or hard.
Im excited to try again!

I opened the place this morning and your night crew left confetti, empty booze bottles and some sets of stripper's panties and bras all over the place.

With the 4Dot clenched firmly, back straight, fingers at the keyboard, Royal Yacht a-burn, it's time for a rant! I am truly dismayed that the chemical lawn company ads have made it to TV big time. As HL Mencken observed, "No one in this world, so far as I know - and I have searched the records for years, and employed agents to help me - has ever lost money by underestimating the intelligence of the great masses of the plain people." The ads in question want you to hire one of the little TruGreen lorries of death like the one that just passed my house, hurrying to kill things somewhere in the neighborhood. The appalling slogan written on the truck's panel and hawked in the ads is "Life is better lived outside." Sick Sick Sick. And the website is even worse -- little children playing in a sprinkler on the lawn, oblivious to the fact that they are busily absorbing more toxins than a month smoking cigars in a bar would provide. They'll see no robins or grackles in their yard again, because there will be nothing for them to eat. While the grubs and earthworms that remained alive in the ground immediately after treatment will be carried back to the nest if the season is right, and the nestlings will die. Any eggs the birds carried will be laid with shells to thin to survive incubation. It's a minor extinction even for local songbird populations. The only way these companies stay in business is by spending millions each year setting lawsuits with the proviso that the plaintiffs keep their mouths shut. Depressing.
On a lighter note, a funny tweet from Neil deGrasse Tyson: "If there is a cat Heaven, and if cat Heaven has mice for cats to chase, seems to me that cat Heaven must then be mice Hell."

Morning Jim,
Thanks for your rant, well done. I've never give the subject the thought that you have but it also never seemed right and you've put that into words. I've been solicited many times by chemical lawn services but never considered them.
My musings of a similar note are when I see the refineries (Elizabeth NJ, Ashland KY) gleaming in the night like giant Christmas trees while they bellow waste into the atmosphere. Similarly the meat processing plants in Hammond, IL., etc. I used to go to Kentucky often, usually through West Virginia and I developed a soft spot for this under appreciated and beautiful state with kind people (other than that slug-nut at the Exxon station in Morgantown!). The Ashland KY refinery is right on the border between these two states and every time the toxic cloud it emitted dutifully wafted gracefully into West Virginia. A native explained that the location, the river and the cutting of trees was done specifically to insure the migration of the toxic mess - right into West Virginia. Damn if it isn't true.
So how many packs of cigarettes, cigars and pipes would it take to equal the poisons that are pumped out by a refinery in a day? Populations that don't think enslave themselves. OK, does that constitute a rant?
My lawn problems are myriad, soil erosion, poor drainage and especially the active diggers, raccoons and squirrels. Makes life interesting.
My cats heaven wouldn't necessarily have mice but it would have glass jars on high shelves waiting for a shove. Of course it could still be mice hell if they were on the floor below the falling jars.

Having 22 years working in the pest control industry, I am somewhat familiar with the companies mentioned and the practices that usually end up
being setteled rather than going to court. My work was mainly household treatments such as roaches and termites, but I was licensed for lawns also.
I can honestly say the certification for lawns was the easiest one to acquire and the most dangerous to practice. The chemicles for stuctures are so
weak now I'm surprized that have a smell let alone kill anything. What you buy from walmart is just as strong. The chemicles for weeds though, now those
scare me.They have more carcinogens than a brain tumor.I will say that any chemicle when applied with forethought and care is highly beneficial and
needed.Unfortunatly that is usually not the case, these guys are in a hurry to get the workorders filled, they are quite often paid on a commision so
more work done means more pay.I refused any job on commision and several times walked away from jobs that would have endangered surrounding areas.
I stopped a termite job for half a day because the birds were feeding on the earthworms we dug up with our trenching.Needless to say, the key words are

Nifty pipe! That stem looks nice and comfy. :thumb:
If we'd have listened to The Bulldog, we wouldn't have had all that trouble in Eastern Europe. Churchill said that we should invade through Greece and cut off the Russians, coming in the back door through Poland. He was right, of course. The Greeks and everybody in the Balkans would have been giving us a hand, but the Italians were part of the Axis and we were the enemy. Poor thinking on the part of the Pentagon, but then, that turned out to be par for the course. Ever read any Churchill? Superior.

Superior.
I'm watching the profound documentary Caddyshack, revealing the seamy underbelly of golf in a country club setting. Riveting and educational. While I learn about "skinny skiing" and greens maintenance, I'm enjoying a splendid bowl of BBF and an after-dinner coffee. Winter is almost over!
There are probably more documentaries on the follies of WWII than the victories. At least Hitler always loses in the end.
Of course it doesn't stand up to the fine journalism of country club life and gofers. :D

Morning Jim,
Sorry about the snowflakes, we're just getting the cold and not the precipitation. Careful what you say least some dazzling young entrepreneurial mind try to make self cleaning pipes.
"All I wanted to do was set up a new account with @TWCable_NYC but 36hrs later I've lost the will to live.".
My friend changed providers to Verizon and the day afterwards, after a reboot, their Internet service was gone. They called. Then I gave them tips before they called. I called on their behalf and finally I went to my friends house and found that their settings had been changed. I called Verizon (again) and they denied having made any changes so I emailed Verizon with a cc to my attorney that they must have noticed because a competent tech called soon after. Yup, their bad, sorry, here's the correct settings. Would you believe that they gave me sh*t about getting a credit for the two weeks they went without service! (and of course that took an hour to get done).
I found my Louisiana Flake but the raccoons got to it and there's 3oz missing and they peed in my ashtray, anti-social dorks. Had they asked, I'd have vacuum sealed some for them, but instead they'll run around sucking the LA flake for days (hmm, not a bad idea) but at least I'll be able to smell them coming. Good thing it wasn't Ennerdale or I'd have had to call FEMA (speaking of losing the will to live).

Not sure my jazz appreciation extends far enough to enjoy him jamming with John Coltrane, but I've heard Wes play some dynamite stuff! Jim,
I'll get the obvious out of the way, she's damn cute.
I share your admiration for virtuosi and Tatyana Ryzhkova's playing (from this track) is absolutely virtuoso level. Stunning - knocked my socks off. You know your stuff, but I knew that and you knew that I knew that.
She plays with similar assurance in technique, melody and line as Williams and is as (or more) dexterous but she has more dynamic scope and vivacity. Simply, there's more life in her playing than I heard in Williams last year (she compares to Parkening this way (in the 1980s) but she has better technique).
So I had a Mozart morning and Wes the rest of the day and tonight I'll be listening to Tatyana Ryzhkova (I'm repeating her name to learn it).
Many thanks for sharing her (stop fellas, not that kind of sharing - be sivil).

From the descriptions I have read, I thought it would be as strong or stronger than Royal Yacht. It is not. It is, however much harsher and has that 'hit the back of the throat' thing some Burleys do. It is similar in taste to Kendal Kentucky, but a little sweeter, a little weaker and a little harsher. Morning Jim,
I hope that the snow's gone for you today. Maybe set a bowl of Royal Yacht out for Mother Nature? Can't hurt and if she doesn't smoke it then you can!
I listened to ~15 pieces by Tatyana and the Bach Allegro (your first post) I feel to be her best. With more listens she has some synch problems (bass/arpeggio) but she's right there and has the intangibles. I don't have your ear or experience (audio's lesser quality too) for me to compare the young lady in Duo Siqueira Lima with Tatyana. The Scarlatti piece is delicious and it sounds like a harpsichord arrangement. In this Chopin Valse, Tatyana's inconsistent but when she's on it's uniquely guitar and (to me) very beautiful. She's a keeper.

Chopin arrangements are really tough on CG. The piano is so big and lound, and four fingers just can't compete with ten, so the guitar is badly over-matched. Pair that with the quintessential writer of piano music taking the instrument to its harmonic limits and it becomes hard to get the feel of the original music. This arrangement works quite well, though, and she plays it very nicely indeed!

What I hear in Tatyana is the ability to shape and phrase individual notes beautifully. Her shortcoming (at this point) is that she has small lapses of making the whole.
Three years ago, Maurice Andre, the French trumpet player, died. At any speed or in any register, his notes are perfectly crafted and delivered as a sublime whole. Tatyana is missing the last part yet but she's very young and Andre struggled with this early in his career too. He's (to me) the greatest musician that I've ever heard.
For you folks who may not like classical music, give this a couple of seconds until Maurice starts playing an he really heats up at ~3:00, you might be surprised, (old recording and the orchestra's not much - just listen to the man play).
