View Full Version : What pipe are you eyeballing?

Just curious to see what pipe everyone is eyeballing. Whether it's something you'll end up buying or just one that's a pipe dream (see what I did there!)?

I'm eyeballing this Castello. I don't know anything about them, but I'm really digging it. Unfortunately, it's well out of my price range.

I've been drooling over this Joura King on Marty Pulver's site for a long time, but at $8600.00 it will never be mine. http://www.pulversbriar.com/german.html

I've been eyeballing a Stanwell Army Mount ever since someone (ahem.... Emperor Zurg ) made me realize I don't have a pipe of that style.

Shall we make an unwritten rule for this thread? One stating that if anyone posts an eBay link to a pipe that it is officially off limits to other posters? :p

Here are a couple I have been eye balling. Probably not bidding though...probably not...

I'm eyeballing most of the main "affordable-but-good" pipe brands. I don't have most of them.
Seems like I'm on ebay "watching" every straight Stanwell, Bjarne, Comoy, Peterson, and Nording, etc. My watchlist is ridiculous. I'm trying to keep them under $20, so it's a fun pursuit!
I just have to space it out and find good, cheap examples of each.

I think one of these would be sweet to have, I can't get over how amazing it looks with the combination of the carving and the contrasting colors. I first saw it in a Dagner's YouTube video a week or two ago.

I have been lately interested in getting a Peterson with a fishtail bit. One that caught my eye recently is the Aran (150):

http://www.smokingpipes.com/pipes/new/peterson/moreinfo.cfm?product_id=171110

but I am also interested in a lovat shape, like the Killarney (53):

http://www.smokingpipes.com/pipes/new/peterson/moreinfo.cfm?product_id=167116

I also wouldn't say no to the Around the World Australia (606):

Hi Ryan,

Man, this pic slapped me with some memories.

Castello makes wonderful pipes and they're expensive, (I'm smoking my only one as I write) but they hold value well. This bent egg, with the acrylic ferrule and military mount is a fairly rare Castello shape and treatment, understated elegance.

This shape, in a fiammata grade, almost caused me a world of grief with SwissAir customs around 1982 (the memories).

You've got a good eye and thanks for posting.

As far as what I'm eyeballing, it's always Barling and Ser Jacopo. I search on other brands but those two is a several time a day thing for me.

Pete,
I would be so appreciative. I don't want to buy a pig in a poke but I'm happy to work on restoring something I would treasure. I'm fine buying five pipes for one treasure. Just don't have the time or know-how to develop a purchase. You can still PAD, using my WAD. I trust you and Branzig to the point if you tell me you proxied for me I'd reimburse on the spot, sight unseen. Just don't want to be the new player at the table, so I've been buying from friends I've dealt with in the past. I'll take as little or as much guidance as you care to share.
Thanks,
Jim

Hmm... I don't smoke too many burley blends and the few I do are pretty mild...
Ever try 5 brothers? That's a strong, popular burley blend and it's cheap too. I have a pouch here but haven't tried it yet.
