Anyone else have a Cbid problem? Meaning - do you get caught up in the 'auction' process and drool over EVERY cigar available then find yourself winning bids on way too many cigars? Here's my current shipment of ONE-HUNDRED SEVENTY cigars!!! GREAT average price, but once you do the math - OUCH!

Are you familiar with the 'trick' to change your shipping date so as to accumulate several days / weeks of winning into one shipment? The winning bids that made up my 170 cigar shipment came over a two-week period.

Yes but I am way to impatient. I normally do everyday unless I have a few ending close to each other and although I'm spending the same amount overtime I like to see the smaller charges to my account than a whooping 170 cigar bill.

If you took all the politicians in the world and laid them end to end...
I'd appreciate it.

I guess what I can't stand is seeing "the price of two more cigars" being spent on shipping & handling. I don't sweat the .50 cents for an additional 5'er, but that first S&H hit is a chunk.

I avoid the devil site. Occasionally if I'm looking for a stick to hand out, or something to supplement my "yard gar" stash, I might venture over, but in general the stuff I really like to smoke isn't available there, and the premium stuff usually isn't any cheaper.

Im with you. Ive actually never placed an order through them and only visited the site a handful of times. I stick to my wish list and usual vendors.

I use it strictly for picking up a few specific sticks for less than pretty much anywhere else. I don't have the patience to wait for huge deals on more expensive cigars, I just order elsewhere. Especially with all the deals we get at other vendors.

Yeah, a good chunk of those are on my cbid list, along with some others. It's never a 170 stick shipment though. Thats almost a years worth of sticks as often as I smoke.

I don't enjoy most of those. I'm not saying they're bad, but if I double the price (average $5) I can smoke cigars I like three times as much. So I smoke less often, but higher end. It works for me. I can understand folks who feel differently, of course. In many ways, I wish I felt differently myself!

Yeah, I smoke around 120 cigars a year, maybe less.

I will say FreeFall has been my friend, I've gotten decent deals on stuff I do smoke from time to time. But overall, it's usually faster and easier, and often cheaper for the stuff I like to smoke, for me to head over to MrSmallBatch and get my stuff there, or sometimes to Monster. With the free shipping and coupon codes, those two are hard to beat for what I smoke.

I love C-Bid for everyday smokes.
You gotta be careful with premium stuff.

I've been watching some Liga #9 Robustos 5ers on free fall. It's been resetting at about $65 or so. You can just go to CI and get them for $60 any time.
Be careful and double check your prices.

So what brands & shapes do you like?

So what brands & shapes do you like?

Well, many of them are Cubans, so those I get elsewhere, obviously:
H Upmann Half Coronas
Boli CJs
RASCC
SCdlH El Principe

Some of my favorites are NCs though:
Caldwell Gibraltar
Liga Privada Papas Fritas
Nica Rustica
Crowned Heads Four Kicks
DPG Blue
(There are others I'm forgetting...)

These are a few of mine in that price range. I know the latter two are inexpensive on cbid as well, but for just a couple it's easier to snag on the monster than to try and coordinate winning bids, etc.

I notice this quite frequently. They will have an MSRP then you go to another site and find them on sale for less than what they bid for. My only problem is racking up some decent deals just to over bid on one I want on the same shipment and still say I came out on top. I never never never go over MSRP though and try to use a formula for max bid and forget anything that goes over.

Yea I gota problem.

The problem is that I can't think of reasons NOT to buy when the prices are so low.

It would be like seeing auctions where they're selling Porsches for $10,000. Getting that kind of car for that kind of price would essentially demand that you buy it. But soon your front yard is filled with Porsches and your retirement savings is at zero.

I used to have a problem with cbid when I discovered the site. Than I found my flavor and started buying boxes much cheaper on other sites. Now I pretty much only bid on things that are ridiculously low balled. Once in a while I am surprised to see that I win, and it's never really a problem, because as I stated, I low ball the hell out of stuff.

I just logged on to Cbid and had to review and reconfirm my info since I hadn't logged on in over 90 days. I still have a half cooler of stuff I got there a year or two ago when I could not turn down a screamin' deal on some smokes I liked at the time.

How does a list like this not include party short lol?

They're really not my favorite. I liked some I had back in 2011, but since then I haven't enjoyed many. A couple here and there, but they seem harsher and less consistent to me. Might just be luck of the draw, but the BCJ and HUHC have been amazing, so I've kinda dropped the Party Short from my list for now.

Perhaps I should revisit, and I might sometime in the future, but right now, the BCJ and HUHC have my heart. The SCDLH El Principe i havent bought in several years, still smoking through a few I bought in '12, so I have no idea if recent production on those is any good either, but the RASCC has been very good, especially MUR '13s.

Problem with that analogy: Porches have a strong resale value. Good luck trying to get back even what you paid for any of those bargain sticks from cbid if you decide you're tired of them.

If you see something that will hold it's value or something rare at an incredibly low price, there's no real downside and it's hard to say no.

On the other hand, if you see something that's virtually impossible to unload, but is readily available, then it makes sense not to go nuts. Let the retailer hold onto the stock, and keep your cash.

I used to have that problem, but then I stopped logging on. I am at capacity right now and I need to shrink down my stash some more before I move.

Nice haul! DogRockets had similar issues with purchasing. He is weak and falls to temptation way too easily.
