I almost always use a punch because I find it gives a nice clean cut, keeps tobacco shreds out of your mouth and maintains the integrity of the cap. I think it also helps with a nice even burn, and makes the cigar more nub able if it is worth it.
On occasion the draw is too tight, and I cut again with a guillotine. Also use a guillotine for small ring gauge cigars and torpedo's/pyramids. when i do this i try and keep it to the end of the triple cap, or equivalent.
I have a good number of guillotines with a key chain punch attached to them distributed between house, golf bag, office, and suitcase so as to be boy scout ready for any occasion.
One of the guys I smoke with uses a guillotine and cuts the entire cap off, I am surprised he doesn't unravel as he smokes!
Whats your favorite cut and why?

If I'm at home I really prefer to cut it with a razor and peel just the top off like this picture. Away from home I go with my Cuban Crafters perfecto.

quit cutting an punching years ago...I use a paper clip, nail, or tip of my knife, never saw a cigar I cant suck the innards out...if it is cut or punched..

I got my first punch not too long ago and I've been loving it (social club freebie). I have found a great draw and REALLY even burns with the punch.
Anything smaller in RG or tapered gets cut still gets cut.

Oh, this is about clipping a cigar - I thought it was going to be about pipe tobacco :)
Guillotine for me, just the way God intended it.
As for the pipe tobacco question you didn't ask: flake.

Either a V cut or a perfect cutter. Just feel it gives the perfect cut every time.

Large diameter punch for 50 RG and up. Straight cut with a standard guillotine for anything 50 RG or below. Yes, 50 can go either way.

I prefer to punch but if it's a small stick I'll cut it.
Never tried a V cut.

As far as cuts go I prefer a Porterhouse. But for my butts I use a punch most of the time.

Guillotine. Almost always.
I only go with the punch if the cigar is bigger than I want it to be.

Ever since I put a punch on my keychain I use it exclusively. It has three sizes of punch so there's never a problem with a cigar being too big or too small for it.

I use a punch on everything I can. I also have tried the V-Cut as well and like how it works. Anything too small for a punch I just use a guillotine cut. Speaking of which; what is the consensus for the best guillotine cutter to use?

I never had heard of or seen a V-cutter until just a few months ago. I like it. But I'm not sure if I like it because it's new and intriguing - or that I like it because it's "better". I've used nothing but a guillotine cutter for a decade and have only been dissatisfied when I used a non-sharp one. I suspect I wouldn't like a non-sharp V-cutter, either. Same thing with a punch; a non-sharp punch will annihilate a good cigar. And then you have the whole 'getting the tobacco back out of the punch-hole' thing to deal with...
So I guess MY bottom-line would be: Whatever you use, make it a sharp one.

In my opinion, Palio. Hands down.

Perfect cutter on everything. I see no need to change.
V cut for everything. I keep a guillotine for torpedos but 99% of the time Im using my V cutter. For those that haven't tried it I highly recommend trying it out.

Punch generally.
I did get a freebie cutter from Small Batch that works pretty well.
I aspire to getting a Cuban Crafters Perfect at some point....but haven't just yet.

I've always been curious, but never tried it. I'll grab a cheapo V-cutter at the B&M to give it go :)

For larger ring gauge cigars you can do a figure 8 by punching it twice.

Mostly a straight cut with a cheapie cutter. Need a better one though, its starting to crush instead of cut. Also have a cheap v cutter from a b&m thats next to worthless.
Might have to start using a sharp knife and some toothpicks to cut or poke the cap. Can't be any worse than a bad cutter.

I loved using my punch but switched over to a guillotine as I was getting more and more tar leaks with a punch. I do like the neatness of the punch but not worth it for me to be getting excess tar build up.

I almost always v cut unless a tight draw then I guillotine. Just makes for a cleaner experience for me.... Less stray tobacco.

When i punch and get tar, I will cut mid-smoke to fix it.

I used my xicar scissors almost exclusively until I got my perfect cutter. Haven't used anything else since. I wouldn't mind getting a decent punch though it's been a decade or more since I had one and I always liked the punch cut.

I'm a fan of a guillotine cut, with my goal to cut JUST the cap off and even the filler(generally cutting less than 1mm of the filler). I like V-cuts on torpedos but I normally just use my straight cutter because it's front and center instead of in the drawer. I've tried punching cigars but haven't done it often because my punch is huge(the free one from the Monte lounge) and it doesn't travel well.

Not true for me.... I started with a punch and still have it but have transmorgified into preferring tother tools.
Let's see.... from the punch I went guillotine, then scissors, then knife, then V-cut and am about to try the Piercer for grins & giggles.
Cheers!

I generally punch first and check draw. If it's tight, I'll cut it with a perfect cutter. If it's still a tight draw, I just toss it back in the humidor and see if it comes around in a few month's...
