So for the next 6 months or so my cigar budget is gonna be pretty tight. I have some favorites already, but I'm looking to add a bit more variety to my cheapie lineup. Any recommendations? I know this is not everyone's preference, but there must be a bum or two that has some hidden gems.

So far it is:
Bahia Gold Maduro
Schizo Toro's
Diesel UHC
Nica Libre

Thinking of grabbing some Casa de Garcia Maduros as well.

5 Vegas A series isn't a bad maduro stick for around that price. They're decent ROTT but are really pretty good sticks after 3-4 months rest.

Pinar Del Rio Oscuro and Pinar Del Rio Habano Sungrown are very good as well. In fact the Oscuro is one of my favorites period, not just for a budget stick.

Bahia Gold White Label is a good budget stick that Horseshoe turned me on to. You can pick them up for around the $10/5er mark pretty regularly on the Devil Site and they are excellent.

There are some very decent options in that range. Don't let anyone tell you there isn't.

I also forgot to add Victor Sinclair. I know lots of people hate them, but I have never smoked one that I didn't like.

In addition to Nica Libre and the Bahia Gold White Label mentioned above I'm a fan of Bahia Maduro (Red label) for that price

Go to the Devils site and you can get a ton of $2 sticks that are normally $5-$7 sticks. $2 sticks can be had in the singles, 5ers or even sometimes boxes.

Sosa Wavell
Bahia Gold White Label(if it had a better cap it would be my favorite go to stick. It is in my wheel house.)
Odyssey's

Some $2 singles I have purchased off the Devils site:
Gurkha's
Sosa
Bahia Gold White Label
CAO Black(great stick)
MoW a couple singles here and there
Some more CAO's
And several others I have bought that I forgot about I am sure. Some good some not so good.

General Grants are dirt cheap and ugly but they smoke quite well.

I know some look low upon Quorum's, but Ive smoked them for years as my main staple, robusto or the shorts..usually pick them up for less than $30 for bundles. shorts are good for the quick fix.

Let me recommend two sites to explore. Egars.com has a lot to choose from in that range. However, most every brand they carry are available in fivers and singles. That's why I tried them in the first place. I'm on my 3rd order with them.

BestCigarPrices.com may have a few more choices in that range. However, far fewer are available in 5/s. I have no experience in ordering yet, but the return information after I registered looks encouraging.

Egars has let me find these. Mexican Segundos maduro are quite tasty in the smallest size.
I'm on my first bundle, and have ordered the next size up to sample in a fiver. I was surprised to find that Drew Estate produces a bundled line called Blue Ribbon. I'm on my 2nd-fiver, just to make sure, but it looks promising.

Three brands I enjoy happen to be from Ventura Cigar: Hugo Cassar, Estilo Cubano, and Cuban Rounds. HG are natural only, EC maduro only, and CR's come wrapped with either.

Estilo Cubano was favorite cigar for the first year of my cigar smoking career. DELICIOUS!

For $2 or less, here's my list:

5 Vegas Classic or High Primings
La Perla Habana
Nica Libre
CAO stuff
Carlos Torano 1959 Gold

If you go up to $3, there are tons of options.

Has anyone tried the Arganese cigars? I keep thinking about trying them, but never do.

Oh, and Villager Connecticut is a $1 stick and pretty good.

+1 on the Sosa but they need some rest.

And at risk of sounding like a broken record, Verdadero Organic is a great mild smoke and can regularly be found on cbid for $2. Also Ramon Bueso Genesis, and Villiger La Libertad. Can't go wrong with any of those.

You know, I just spent 15 minutes looking at pricing on 5ers from Egars only to relaize they don't ship to NY. The warehouse is less than 2 hours from me, but I still can't place an order.

Where do you order Ventura Cigars from? Or are they retail only?

The ML3 ones are pretty good. I forgot about them as I finished the 5er I had and have not ordered more yet. I just rattled off my list based off what I still have on hand late last night.

When they're in supply, I always snag a bundle or 3 of Nicaraguan Ligero-Laced 2nds from CI. Only some robustos are currently available, but at just under $2 a stick, I don't feel you can go wrong.

Man, $2 is a tough price point to meet. Even by the box/bundle:

$3.09 Sancho Panza Valiente
$2.80 La Perla Habana Black Pearl Morado (93 CA rating)
$2.76 5 Vegas Classic
$2.20 Flor de Oliva Corojo
$1.75 CI MISTAKES

It is, but some of the time thats what the wallet can say ok to. Normally it's not an issue, but most of my fun money has to go to other things for the next few months. Plus it's good to save more for those higher end sticks.

No worries, I did not take it that way at all. Ive always been cheap with day to day things. The super cheap, $2 or less is a challenge. I figured a bunch of bums would be the perfect people to ask though.

I intend to compile a list for anyone else that stumbles across this thread, and so I have a shopping list.

I discovered them through several B&Ms, but haven't looked for any other e-tailer than Egars. I would have to imagine there's

Full disclosure - almost all of my sticks are less than $2, so perhaps I'm not the best one to be giving advice here :)

Nonetheless, here's my current list of good cheapies:

Cabo Classic
Gurkha Park Avenue
Nica Libre
5 Vegas Gold
Schizo
Bahia Red
Bahia Blue
John Bull
Graycliff G2
5 Vegas classic
Buenaventura
Bahia Trinidad
5 Vegas A

(I've also got a running list of bad cheapies if anyone's interested)

Anything from Oliveros is very good after a few years of rest.

They can be found on the bid-sites regularly for about two bucks each.

You can routinely buy the Cuba Libre on CBid for $2 or less per stick. These are one of my "go to" staples and I always keep some on hand. When I smoke them, I often find myself smiling about how cheap they are.
