I LOVE the Devil Site... You know what they sell for at retail and if you have some patience... ie. let the suckers over bid and wait for the price you want to pay... the site is pure gold!
That'll do youncigar. That'll do.

Agreed. Just make a formula for yourself. I don't seem to have much luck with 5ers but have had some steals on boxes and singles. Never any luck with DE stuff. They always go way too high. Nice catch though. I haven't had any unicos in a very long time. Most my business goes to local B&Ms and CI, but I have much appreciation for the devil's site when it plays nice. Plan to try cheaphumidors next.

I got these on free fall, which eliminated all of that bidding up nonsense.

Free Fall requires some time, but is great as well. You just have to watch it long enough to see what the lowest bid price is. When that price comes around again, you just have to be quick enough to POUNCE! I actually lost patience for it and now only make bids. Whatever works for you.

I haven't bought anything on there in 1.5 years and most of the same deals can be had if you watch the right sites and use the discount codes.

Those are purty !
Nice score
I set up my auction for late..close to 12..then put in my max and wait for the score...all items ship for one price...seems no one is around at that time

It's a good place to score occasional deals like you did, and great for picking up budget cigars or some not so popular big names, but sometimes bids just get out of hand. I always set my max bid for less than normal online retail. If someone beats me then they clearly have more money than brains and they can have em.

The devil has been great lately. I've stocked up on boxes at at least 40% off.

If you are a free fall fan, use Chrome as your browser and download the free-fall plugin. Helps you find the bottom so you can buy wisely.

With patience it can save you some good money. I haven't been on CBID a in a long time. Finally broke that addiction. Just traded it for another!
Also, don't forget this helpful lil' nugget:
http://sloppymcnubble.com/cbid/
It doesn't include free fall data, but can help with actions if you are totally new.
Chrome plugin:

You know I thought the one thing that cigarbum has been lacking are cbid threads like this. Man that site is dangerous! Bid on one things which leads to another - especially if you win, becuase then it's essentially "free shipping", right? You'd be crazy not to. Then your order ships and it doesn't resemble the 1 thing you went on there to buy. A cigar orgy to be sure. Keep the cbid stories going! Since I'm on a buying freeze until the 4th of July I have to live through posts such as this.

Cbid is okay, but I agree with others that you can get boxes and such at the same price from other vendors.
Cbid is good for 5'ers or sampler packs, I've been known to frequent the site ;)

I used to go to Cbid.
Then I set it up as a threat to my firewall. Now whenever I try to visit, it is blocked for my safety. My stash misses it, but my wallet has never been happier :p

I would have to agree...a lot of the box prices can be found for cheaper if you know where to look and have some patience. it is still so addicting though

Inveterate CBid fanboy here :)
The key to success there is patience and self control. LOL, I may as well say the key to success is telekenesis and time travel :)

Key to success: Ignore the "You have been outbid." emails.

I spent WAY too much money on there last year so I have banned myself from bidding on anything. I was getting a shipment every week for a few months. Devil site indeed

But in all cerealness, yes, just pick a price you want to pay, use that for a "max bid," and if you get outbid, let it go. Most of the good deals I've seen on the devil site come back within a week or two, so you usually get another crack at it.

Turn off the outbid emails and only check site once every couple of days

Amen sir, amen...
I highly recommend using this site which reports historical results from CBid auctions, including marking great price, poor price, etc. I don't think it is always complete -- I bought a box recently that didn't show up. BUT it is better than going with no information at all.

It's generally a day or 2 behind and it doesn't show free fall auctions but it's otherwise very accurate and a good gauge of how much you just overpaid ;)
