I noticed last night that a Caliber IV hygrometer i purchased a couple weeks ago temperature readings began to fluctuate. I am in the process of calibrating the hygrometer that came with my new humidor and have it along with the caliber IV (which has already been calibrated and is spot on) in a clear Tupperware with a Boveda pack. While checking the progress of the calibration I noticed that the temperature reading on the caliber IV would switch back and forth between readings at a 4* increment ( from 69* to 65* and back again about every 10 seconds) And no, I was not opening the Tupperware to check the temperature It remained closed :p
Curious if anyone here has experienced the same thing or have any answers? Low battery?....Thanks.

First check to see if it is authentic. There were some fake Caliber IVs being sold on Amazon a while back. Then check the battery. Mine would go crazy when I bumped it, where the display would read gibberish for a few seconds and then return to normal when the battery was low.

Browns7213 Thanks, I am aware of the counterfeit issue (actually just read about it) and mine is legit( bought it at JR). I PM'd Cigar Oasis on another forum and hope to get an answer. Was hoping someone here had a similar issue and already had an answer.

I also suspect a low battery. For the price of a battery, I would go ahead and replace it and see if the issue goes away.

You are probably right, however I just bought it and would assume that it came with a good battery. You know what happens when you assume??

I have one that does that sometimes. I have 3 in my wineador, and I'll sometimes see the temp suddenly change on one, and yes, I believe it is usually by 4 degrees. FWIW, It hasn't been doing that as much recently, perhaps I'm just not seeing it?
I haven't worried about it much because I'm running 3 Caliber IV hygrometers in my wineador and 1 in a tupperdor and outside the one with that temp fluctuation, they've been great.
