Tobacco: McClelland Deep Hollow
Age: 2010 - Opened 3/14/15
Blend Contents: Virginia
Pipe: The Pipe
Tin Note: Hard to tell. Vanilla-caramel and golden raisins. I don’t smell any vinegar/ketchup from the tin.
Prep: Straight out of the freshly-opened tin.
Notes:
I was very excited to try out this tobacco. I’m a fan of Tolkien, and loved the tin art.
The tobacco burned without any problems, but it did have some pops and crackles, even though it is about five years old. No bite, and plenty of smoke. In fact the quality of the smoke is perfect for a Tolkien-inspired smoke. It is thick, wispy, and moves like it has a mind of its own. (This could be because it was very humid, slightly cool, and barely breezy)
This is listed as an aromatic, but I can’t get much Flavor when smoking it. I got one moment that I almost thought I smelled caramel apple, but then it was gone. I also picked up some vanilla. Everything was pretty mild. Nothing grabbed me.
It is a fine tobacco, but I was ultimately disappointed.
