Found this at an antique shop. Suntan 7086b. Also had a darby close to the same style. Wasn't sure about it had a little chatter. This 1 really doesn't and has maybe 1/8 of cake. Paid 8$ good deal? Time to look up Branzig's restore post! deal?113911401141

It is hard to go wrong for $8. It looks like there is a filler repair on the left side of the bowl. That's isn't a big deal at all, but just pay attention to it during cleaning and polishing to make sure the repair remains sound. It is a purely aesthetic thing and won't affect the smoking :)

Congratulations!
The resto is the fun part. A sense of accomplishment after getting it all cleaned up and polished makes the smoke taste better.

Sweet. I don't know much about that brand, but I'd pick that pipe up for $8 ten times out of ten.
Looks good. Be sure to post when you're done and let us know how it smokes.

Some people cut them off but I suggest you try it with first as you can always cut it off later. I personally don't mind the stingers. If you have a bit of gurgle and want to run a cleaner through, just unscrew the stem.

Nice pipe! For $8 you can't go wrong buddy.
I agree with trying the stinger first before ditching it. You may like it!

It is a condenser. It is "supposed to" make for a cooler and drier smoke. The trade off is if moisture gathers at the bottom of your bowl you can't pass a pipe cleaner through it.
Some actually work very well, most are terrible gurgle breeding monsters. so unless it is a rare collector, like a 4 hole Kaywoodie, most of mine meet the hacksaw.

One of my local smoke shops carry them, but he is a true tobacconist, not a pay for less smoke store. So if you don't have a tobacconist near you, probably gonna have to get them online.

I'm sure you're a smart lad, but just in case...IF you saw/dremel it off like Brandon said, make sure you you leave the threads. I've seen people saw the whole damn thing off and then realize what they've done the second the little thing hits the floor.
But for 8 bucks you could flush the whole pipe down the toilet, who cares! You got an amazing deal!

Lol yeah i figured that much. I wasnt sure if you could just unscrew it from threads or not. its a 4 hole stinger stem like Brandon was saying. working on it now.

4-hole stinger, 4 digit pat #... Sounds like a 1930s pipe.
For $8 you did extraordinarily well. Don't cut the stinger off BTW... :p
I'll give you $10 for it :D

found his nugget of info on the pipe. Thanks Brandon for the lead! So I believe its a 1936
Again according to my notes.
1929 - 1936 "aged bruyere"
1936 KB&B identified their briar on the shank of their pipes (French, Italian, Algerian, Grecian, etc.) BRUYERE.
Algerian preceded Grecian briar.
1936~ - imported briar

Well here it is my first one finished. I don't believe it looks good as the ones you guys do but I'm happy with it. I used Meguiars cleaner wax nd a dremel tool to buff it out with I think it works real well.1195119611971198

When manufactured, stingers were either screwed or pressure fit into the stems. Not all stingers were made alike. Kaywoodie products often had an aluminum screw-in collar and the stinger was inserted (pressure) into this (yours looks like this). The problem is that, in any case, the screw threads and stingers were all made of aluminium and they can be easily damaged when trying to apply enough torque to loosen them. Sometimes soaking in water or alcohol help.
Bristle cleaners are available from several online dealers and should also be available from local pipe/tobacco shops. Stay away from craft shops where they are meant for cosmetics (usually) and are generally too long and expensive.
