View Full Version : How long will I last?
DogRockets

When I joined puff last fall my cigar count was about 225 and I thought it needed thinning. As we sit here today I'm about about 2.5 times that amount now - 541 cigars. In 5 freaking months! I am putting an indefinite ban on my cigar purchasing, either at B&M, online, or through cigarbum.
Therefore, without rehashing who is to blame for this increase in cigars and decrease in bank account *cough Horseshoe cough*, we should take a guess how long my indefinite ban will actually last. Time for a famous DogRockets poll.
I'm thinking I will hold out until June at the absolute earliest. Would give me time to get some warmer weather and perhaps get under 500 sticks at least. Probably September though. That'd get me under 425 hopefully.
But what say you? What encouraging words of support do you have to offer a fellow bum?
Let the polls open

I have been through two recent self-imposed buying "freezes". The last one lasted ten days before a deal got me. You are screwed :)

That's funny. I don't remeber making you do anything. I went from 0 to way to many in that time.
But back to the topic at hand. I say less than a month. I would be willing to go double or nothing off our last bet, which I won, and still allowed you to not pay up.

This sounds like the basis for a great contest...everyone place your bets! Winner gets however many cigars it takes to get Dog Rockets under 500...

If you last more than four hours, you should consult a physician.
Spring is coming. You might as well stock up now so the cigars don't dry up during transit!

Oh now that is mean. Just mean.
My ban on cigar purchases isn't broken if it's a good deal, is it? I think that'd be alright.

I'll say May. I spent my budget last week. I've got four winning on CBid that I want to win and lose at the same time. I couldnt last until June if I tried, neither will you.

Never! Until I do.
Whenever I feel like I have too many cigars I send out some bombs. Cuts the stash down a little and gets rid of any guilt all in one shot.

Why don't you just start selling me some of your better sticks for exceptional prices??? Fuentes, Tats, Ligas, unload those bad boys on me. Then you will have money and more room to buy more shit!

Ut oh. I've been tested greatly in the last day on 2 great cigar deals that I must have. So far I've been able to hold off but my resolve is weakening by the moment. I need your support fellow bums! First I found a Viaje sampler on a website with some cigars I've been wanting to try of theirs and today cigarsinternational's weekly special of 6 higher end AJ sticks for $40 is calling my name. HELP ME! And it hasn't been been a week since I started this thread! How will I make it 3 months?!?

That really seemed to be a nice price on a great sampler (I hope)....I picked up a dose of them....
Wait? You mean to tell me you ONLY have 541 cigars and you want to wait? When you get to 1,000 it's time to slow down, but in my book purchasing cigars should NEVER stop... If you run out of funds just sell something or some old aged stock so you can continue to feel the joy of purchasing more cigars.

You lasted 10 days. You made a solid go at it. But ultimately you have proven yet again that you have no will power!

Well Jeremy, that is a tough one....
I've found that the only way I can stop is to buy a big ticket item, (motorcycle, car, truck etc.) thusly
inflicting "cash-stration" on myself. lol
Then the trick is to immediately start a list of all the goodies you want to buy for your (motorcycle, car, truck etc.)
If implemented properly this technique can easily yield results for 3 months. Once I went a whole 7 months
without buying any cigars if you can believe that_! :abnormal:
Since you haven't mentioned buying a (motorcycle, car, truck etc.) in this thread, I voted "less than 2 weeks" of course.
You are, to coin a phrase, "Toast with no hope" lol
Best wishes, Dafiddla

You tell yourself what ever helps you sleep at night. I will be at your house in a few hours to start the intervention and help you figure out where you went wrong. You have a shopping problem, and it may be best if I help lighten your stick count before your new shipment arrives. I am only one man, but I can hopefully decrease your current inventory by 2 sticks. After all, I feel as though it is my responsibility as your brother to help out in some way.
