I really enjoy drinking dry red wines, preferably a merlot. If you would, give me your recommendations for a cigar pairing. I am not a fan of a huge vitamin N slap but don't mind an adequate buzz either. Let 'em roll. TIA. :stogie:

Step 1: Uncork bottle of wine
Step 2: Pour wine down sink
Step 3: Pour Scotch and enjoy

Just kidding man.
Hopefully someone will post and help you out. I just couldn't resist. :pipe:

Happy smoking, and drinking.

I love scotch also. No problem pairing with that but also enjoy my share of wine. Come to think of it I like beer a lot too. Maybe I have a smoking er drinking problem.

Depends on the body and alcohol. Off the cuff, I'd say... Sumatra. Sun Grown (GoF B is delectable.) Aged Ecuadorian Habano or Broadleaf; fresh, those two could overpower. You could also go with some medium body Cubans; I'd pull a CoRo, HU #2, Superiores, Encantos (this one may be too light in body), etc.

Check out Marvin Shanken's thoughts on the matter - I'm a fan. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbxf61xSb8A)

Although not super dry, yesterday I did a tat black petite lancero with a st. Julian simply red. That's a semi sweet table wine from Michigan that has a nice fruity flavor yet finishes somewhat dry. It worked nicely.

Connecticuts with Strong Pepper Profiles - Sauvignon Blancs, Gruner Veltliners or Sancerres
Connecticuts with no pepper, Corojo, Criollo- Chardonnay, Voigner, Rieslings
Spicy Maduros- Shiraz, Syrah
Cigars with Strong Woody notes- Red Zinfandel

IMO the three wines that pair well with any cigars are ports, malbecs and red blends.

Well who doesn't love reslingings, I mean really! Those ones made in Lancaster, PA are by far my favorites, though they do have some coal like flavors to them.:stogie:

When uncertain a good malbec will never disappoint. Pairs well with anything:)

I've only tried a few times and I have only found one which I enjoy.

Zolo malbec with an LP #9!

Another good bet is a full bodied spicy cigar with Montresor Valpolicella

If you like Malbecs check out Tikal Amorio Malbec which is my favorite one out there right now. Its got the heft of a big cab, but with much softer tannins. They also make a malbec blend at a lower price point which is quite good.

I'll make a note on the Montresor Valpolicella for pairing, I like ripaso.

I have had bad luck with malbec recommendations in the past, so maybe my taste is different.
An employee swore by Flichman Tupungato and wasn't impressed at all, but I might try some Tikal Amorio. I appreciate the suggestion.

All I know is Zolo never disappoints me. It's bold, rustic, earthy, and falls somewhere between plum and blackberry with some spice.
