Drink: Red Stripe

This is a beautiful cigar, a great Maduro wrapper and a gorgeous band..no noticeable flaws in the wrapper at all. From the few Perdomo cigars I have tried all the wrappers have been top notch.

The first half inch or so of this cigar brought on immediate cocoa flavors with a nutty background. The cocoa was certainly the dominant flavor but the nuttiness rounded it out quite nicely.

As we progress a bit further I am picking up some earthy notes. The cocoa is still certainly at the top...so far this is smoking great and bringing out some wonderful flavors.

Getting into the second third of this cigar I am picking up more of a coffee flavor with slight hints of something sweet, perhaps caramel. I am not picking up any further nut or earth flavors at this point, but we are about to take a turn for the worst.

A few puffs later I get this overwhelming bitter taste, first reaction is to swig some of the Red Stripe....second reaction "WTF is that"? So I look towards the foot of the cigar...nothing then I look at my V-Cut at the head and see black ooze...I have never gotten tar from a cigar and I honestly hope this is my last (but I doubt it) At this point it's time to re-cut and hope for the best.

Getting into the final third of the cigar the tar is gone and it's back to smoking nice. I am still picking up coffee flavors and subtle spice flavor is peeking through which was not expected considering how the rest of the cigar was. At this point I am smoking very slow in hopes the tar does not come back but the bastard reveals his ugly face once again...

At this point I had to put both the cigar and myself out of it's misery, it's a shame because this cigar had some great flavors and I was enjoying thoroughly. Time to cut it and take it's final picture...

Thank you Ron for the cigar once again, I do have one more Maduro so I will certainly revisit this cigar sometime soon and see how it turns out!
