After randomly looking over craigslist the other day I came across a humidor for sale. The deal was too good so I had to buy it. It might leak. It might be completely useless. It might just look pretty in this corner of my house.

There's a large tray in the bottom. I'm using that now just to season it since the last owner had it dry for quite some time. I may just throw a couple pounds of beads in the bottom. I'm considering the cigar oasis route as well if I can get it for the right price on cbid.

i would go with something active in case it doesnt seal tight. check the glass, i have one that has glass on the sides and doors and that was a source of some minor leaks.

Nice score! Hopefully it doesn't leak much at all, if it does it shouldn't be too hard to fix.

Nice score congrats! I would bet you are going to need active humidification with the size and glass doors.

My advice, since it happened to me & I had to move mine, make sure sun doesn't hit it during the entire day. I was good for all but early morning on mine BUT it got WARM during that early morning. Found a non-sunny place for it to rest & all has been good.

Either way...nice score!

I use active humidification in mine. I use two of the Hydra LG Humidifiers. Got them on cigarbid for half price. I swapped out the foam for some different beads that just hold moisture & evaporate. It's worked for me since 2010.

I appreciate all the advice. I had read somewhere about keeping it out of the sunlight. The spot it's in now should keep it out of the light. Active humidification seems like it's gonna be the necessary route. Hopefully I'll have as much success as you've had!

After some seasoning, caulking, and weather stripping, it's functioning pretty well and nearly filled up.

I went with a Cigar Oasis Plus, which is working well, but may be working too hard. I'll figure that out in the future. The bovedas are just there because I was lazy and threw them in there. :encouragement:

Lol! Closed due to the extreme cold temperatures.

Thanks man. Got the cabinet for $150 which I thought was a steal.

What a steal...great job! It seems that you took care of any issues it may have had and ended up with an awesome humidor cabinet.

Ha! Come for Habanapalooza!

What are the dates? I'm coming, folks still live near Saratoga Springs, so I got a place to stay!

In all seriousness, that is awesome looking. Great pickup!

It's on May 6th. Always seems to be mid-week, which kind of sucks, but whatever. Hope you can make it out.

Habanapalooza sounds awesome! Just can't get any good information from their website. Crap just piled on top of itself. Is this a dinner thing? I live in Lake George so this looks fun...

I apologize as I just saw this. It's actually my first time attending. My understanding is like most events you get a "coupon book" which you take to the vendors to receive your cigars. I'm told food is plentiful and lots of samples of booze and coffee.

Nice. I scoured the website. Convinced the missus to hook me up with it for my birthday... Looks casual and only about cigars. Much more my style than paying a hundred bucks for dinner and a few mediocre samplers.

I still think that should sit next to my glass gun Cabinet...
