1. The 2023 "month" spanning 07 June - 07 July is dedicated to a community-wide smoking-togetherness of everthing AJ Fernandez (AJF).

2. If you're smoking anything AJF and would like to share here - please do!

3. There's a Challenge/Contest called the 30/30 that's running along with the Monthlong.

3a. Smoke 30 cigars within the three brands during the 30 days of June...YOU WIN!...(a virtual pat on the back...and MAYBE!...just MAYBE!something else...I dunno yet...BUT YOU WIN!)

3b. Cigars can be the same exact cigars, or totally different (i.e. smoke 30 San Lotanos - YOU WIN!)...IT DOESN'T MATTER!!!

Most of not all Southern Draw are rolled at Tabacalera Fernandez? I read that AJ also helped with the blending of Rose of Sharon and Jacob’s Ladder, and likely others.

I had to do some research.
There is a Casa Fernandez associated with Aganorsa, Warped, Illusione, Viaje, El Güegüense, Gurkha, et. al. Some damn fine cigars, well except for a few from the last one named, gur..gu..gur..Gurkha. [emoji1785][emoji2961][emoji6][emoji38]

This is not AJ, Abdel, Fernandez. It is Eduardo Fernández and his son, Max. I’d bet they know each other well. Perhaps a distant cousin, so that counts, right?

I bought a box in 2015/6 as a new release w/free lighter. This was the first cigar I ever got that was "sick". Pure ammonia. Pissed me off at the time and put me off from smoking anything ROTT.

Well, this is one from that same box and they've been a joy to smoke the last few years.

In my experience, not many mild CTs are nub-able, especially budget brands. Usually only 1/2 - 2/3 of it are smokable, but this one held up and stayed enjoyable.

I believe that was the original blend of the Pinolero and I feel that was an exceptional budget smoke.
Unfortunately, and I hope I'm wrong, they've changed the blend.
But that 2012 was the original blend if I'm not mistaken.

I almost grabbed one of those Montes from my friend's stash last weekend. Didn't think I'd have enough time to finish, so I went with a Nub. Didn't know it was an AJF collaboration, so I might have to pick one up. Haven't had a Monte in a long time, so two birds.

I wasn’t aware either Matthew, until I started looking for some new AJF sticks to try during the 30/30 and beyond. I’ll let you know what I think, they are fairly easy on the wallet.

It was good! Sweetness, earthiness, leather, minerals. Not too strong on the pepper. Bit of baking spice. Don't know what it was, there was something that was irritating to the back of my throat.

I thought the New World I smoke the night before was more interesting.

I'm tasting the Jochy/La Galera influence and enjoying it, but it's not wanting to burn fully, and I don't think I'm getting the full experience. Chalking it up to needing more rest time, though the SL Habano burned and went very well and arrived at the same time.

There are some nice things going on. I can't fully rate the other HUp/AJF, but this one is much better. The 1/3 had a nice complexity with the flavors you mentioned. Now the 2/3 is becoming mainly dark earth with a bit of pepper, and not as interesting as the 1/3, but still pretty good.
