So, I was given an Eiora PCA 2021 as part of a trade. I was under the impression, mainly based on reviews and a little education from from an online magazine reviewer on the other forum I follow, Cigar Weekly, that they were special, limited release cigars only given to press at special press and manufacturer only events.
Googling this cigar, it's for sale many places, which confuses me based on what I thought I knew about PCA cigars.
Anyone able to clear this up for me?
Thanks,
Sean

From what I know, the PCA is an organization that is pro-B&M, and similar to the CRA in that they advocate for better legislation on premium tobacco. The PCA has a yearly trade show where manufacturers make LEs or products only for the retailers that come and buy, and only those retailers can sell.

Didnt know retailers went to the PCA show. Thought it was only for press. The other forum I follow, Cigar Weekly, just had one of their writers and interviewers go to the PCA show for their online magazine portion of the site, and he has legit press credentials (whatever that consists of, I have no clue).
Read some of his articles and watched some of his videos interviews. Maybe that's why I got the idea they were press only.

Is that what they changed to after the ipcpr name. I always hated that but if so chain_gang is right. It's where alot of b&m go to buy cigars for the upcoming year. You can't get into the door without being a member and from what I have been told you can't walk 5 ft without someone handing you a cigar. The problem is they all ant you to smoke it there so they can sell you on it. They at night many of the big vendors have parties a dinners to keep trying to push cigars. It 12-14hrs of straight smoking.

So, you both are correct about their goals, and the yearly show.
Not sure why I had the impression it was a press only event...

Besides b&m's press is the only other people allowed. There are a lot of small b&m who can't afford to go to several day long trip so they just use their reps.

That's likely why I thought it was press only.
