Anyone else often get a very spicy taste while puffing a cigar during lighting?

I'd say it happens to me about a 3rd of the time.

Pulling my torch lighter back further when lighting seems to have helped lessen it, but still occasionally happens.

Happens to me. I've started to fully torn the end until a white ash layer forms, then I give it a second for it to cool a bit, and then I puff. Seems to work.

I think the spice if from the heat.

That's why I started backing up my torch further, but puffed a few times while lighting, which is when it would be very spicy.

Will try your method and see if it works better, thanks

I friggin love cigars
