View Full Version : What's in your humidor?

Thought it might be fun to describe the cigars in your humidor. Is it mostly Nicaraguan? Dominated by Padron? Warped? Crowned Heads? Fuente? Gurkhas? Cubans? Dominicans? Approx how many cigars do you currently have? Is there a number you are hoping to build to? What are your special occasion cigars? What cigars do you hope to add to your collection? Anyway, you get the idea! I hope this will be enjoyable as its not a dick swinging contest, because I would come up a wee bit short. :) if your a Piper, feel free to tell us about your pipes and what is in your cellar! Also if your a drinker, feel free to list your favorite adult beverage to go with a favorite cigar. I don't drink, but realize it is pretty common among cigar lovers.
Be as detailed as you feel comfortable. It might also be helpful for Secret Samta.
I guess I should go first.
I have about 400-450 cigars and rarely buy over the last 5 years. Although when I find something I really want at a good price, I buy as many as I can afford at the time. Living on SS can be tight sometimes.
My collection is heavy with Fuente cigars, their tobacco just seems perfect for my tastes. Most being Opus, 858's and Anejos. Most have been aging for 4-8 years, but several are freshies.
I also prefer 50 and smaller RG with Coronas being the sweet spot, along with petite lanceros. But a Robusto works too because they are fairly short. An hour smoke seems to satisfy the itch.
I also enjoy CC''s of which I have around 75 cigars. I have very little knowledge about them, but it's nice to have them on occasion and a change of pace.
For special occasions or just because I want one, I usually just grab an Opus of some kind, with Angel Share and Oscuro Oro my current favorites. I also have a few HTF CC's that would also come into play. I have the palette of a goat, so I can't describe most flavor in a cigar, that's just not my thing.
That's about it for now, but will add if something comes to mind.
Who's Next???

We are very close to the same in a few regards.
I have about 400 cigars on hand, about half being cc's though, but on the nc side I too have more Fuentes than anything else. I have a tupperdor for just them that is full at 50 cigars, plus some overflow in my 74qt boxes tupperdor.
My special occasion cigars are all cc EL's and custom rolls, mainly due to price and scarcity. I believe I have about 11 in that tupperdor.
I also have some aged Opus X's and God of Fires I have designated as special occasion cigars also. There probably about 8 of the 2.
I still make a monthly purchase of cc's or nc's depending on what I am getting low on or just want more of, because I'm a 2 or 3 cigar a day smoker.
I just try to maintain my habit and keep my stash around the same number.
I put a very high value on variety, so I keep enough different smokes on hand to the point where I don't have to smoke the same cigar twice in over a month unless I choose to.
I prefer cigars in the 46 to 52 rg range and 5.5 to 6.5 inch length.
Also, my palate is pretty much the same as yours. There are very few specific flavors that I can detect in my cigars.
Not really anything specific I'm looking to add as there are too many to choose from. Especially nc's, so I just buy a few of what I see others smoking to try out.
I have a long list of ones to try and just as many that I enjoyed and will eventually order more of

My humidor is best described as completely random. I used to say I had around 500 but I feel I have bought more than I smoked, so 600-700 (random guess).
When I started my gf now my wife bought me my first humidor hundred count. It after sitting empty and dry for years now houses my gift cubans and my Psd4 rolled in July 2016 month and year my daughter was born. I got tubos with the idea to replace each cigar with a letter to her.
My main humidor picked up off Craigslist 7 years ago. Wanted 1 big one rather than all my small ones. Top 2 shelves are gifted cigars. Family friends bombs.
At 1 point there was a plan to have cigars I purchased on 1 shelf and other cigars on the other plan went to crap. I have been an active member on 3 cigar forums starting with puff then after one of the massive bans stogiefriends (about to die) and here. When I was active on p I lived in lubbock and we had a good b&m and several events i did the event buy 3 get 1 or buy 5 and get whatever. I was inexperienced and deal I would only smoke 1 a week. So I tended to buy more than I smoked then. I have also been very lucky with superbowl squares 2 wins some fantasy football wins have added to my random assortment. I was also really active on pif and maws with a few random passes and secret santas. My online purchases were mostly budget sticks as were my pif and maw huals.
(Worst beating i ever took was from the great Shuckins in a Wheel of destruction pairing).
I took a small hiatus for a bit about a year where my b&m closed and I didn't really buy anything. Thats around the time I was doing another superbowl squares when p went black and Cigarbum was born. Since then I have lived here in Wichita Falls b&m is not on par with my buying standards but I don't need many budget or daily smokes so I buy Htf sticks or cheaper cubans. I smoke more but it is a bit weather and projects around the house permitting.
I have several special smokes I try grab one every once in a while but depending on where we are and weather and who we are around.
When I got into cigars I liked larger cigars Churchill but now prefer corona or Robusto or lancero. I love Solomon shape but thats a long cigar to smoke.

Well your guess is as good as mine, but it seems like a cigar or two. I have a bit of everything even a Cuban or two. I have another humidor at work with that sampler from CI with all the $1 churchills. I have maybe 3 humidors with infused cigars. A humidor or two of Rocky's I have a humidor almost all the way filled of things Socal Gunner sent me. Beyond that your guess is as good as mine. I know there is a monster mash in the cooler I am gifting out this Christmas to my homie is never logs on here but made an account once. There are several humidors with pipe tobacco not pictured. I am a man of variety. I can tell you what is not in there, no Gurkhas I smoked them all and will pick up a bundle or two next time I am at a B&M

I did find a random $12 cigar on the shelf moving things around. No idea where it came from or how long it was there. I just shove stuff whereever it will fit. One day I will get my stuff together and all in one spot. Sometimes my friends dig and even I am surprised at what they find. Make your way to the east coast and see what you can find.

I could take pics, but my tuppie is in the 'pics of your humidor' thread.
Maybe 200 total - 150ish loose, 40ish boxed.
3/4 box of Tat Black, and a full box of Kruegers. CH 2021 LC sampler box. Fausto cuelbra box set.
The loose singles are probably 1/2 from the Bums. Other half are an assortment from cheap tossers to pretty decent sticks.
One of these days, far off in the distant future most likely, there'll always be a nice stock of Crowned Heads, Padron, Tatuaje, and Rojas ready for smoking. Probably also AF, MF, and other brands I cannot think of now, and brands I need to smoke more of. Most, if not all, in an RG 50 or less with a size of 6" max - unless the RG decreases with added length.
If Santa needs more help with my list - anything above, anything asked for from MAWs, and anything Santa thinks will be appreciated.

Tombstone very cool, and thanks for the insight into your collection. Love how the liquor is there right with the cigars, and it looks like there's a nice selection of drinks ready to be chosen from. Everything's right there together, just how it should be.

Tony, I'm glad you are getting to see your family in Tucky. I bet that grand baby is really growing.
If your wife is anything like mine, she probably has a pretty good idea about your cigars, but chooses not to give a shit. Mine is smarter than she looks! :)

Seems like it would be a real bitch trying to find a specific cigar though, lol
I too put a very high value on variety.
I buy almost exclusively, 3 singles, 5 packs and boxes of 10 to maximize the variety I have on hand. Did get a few 25ct boxes of various PC's to stock up on quicker smokes for the particularly cold winter days that are coming soon.
I try to stay stocked to the point where I don't have to smoke the same cigar twice in a month unless I choose to.

one perk of having a good stash is the ability to stock up when you find a nice deal. Its taken a lot of years to amass this. I am always browsing the clearance sections. What is hot today will be forgotten about in a few months. Still just as good of a cigar but at a deep discount. I have my staples but beyond that I smoke whats one sale. With the variety on the market you can always find something pleasing.

I have very broad tastes when it comes to my cigars, so I often buy what's on sale, clearance or bundles of fumas, seconds, etc as they are way cheaper and only have cosmetic issues which I could care less about, and otherwise are just as good as "the real ones", since they are otherwise identical

Ok Steve - I finally got around to doing this for you. Though I must admit I was a little curious as to how the numbers have changed.
First off, a pic of my "humidor". Not a nice fancy walk in like TJ has but it serves my purpose.

3 Wineadors, and 2 big coolers in the rack. I also have a half sized cooler and 6-8 small tuppers.
I use a spreadsheet so I can keep my inventory straight and that allows me to easily look at the numbers as a whole.
I show 544 lines on my spreadsheet - each line is a unique cigar, by size. Some are duplicates, meaning I was bombed something I already has in stock.
Taking that in to account, I'd say when I go to choose a cigar I have roughly 500 choices as to what to smoke. I like variety and it may be months until I go back to something, but I like having choices. I tend to buy, as we all do, very economically and pick up a few big samplers a year as well so having the storage to be able to handle a 100 stick purchase helps alot.
The breakdown of the top brands in my stock looks like this:
Crowned Heads / Pichardo - 30.6% of my inventory. Knew this was now #1 and the gap had gotten larger with all their recent releases
Tatuaje / L'Atelier - 13.2%
Warped - 5.3%
HVC - 3.7%
Caldwell - 3.7%
Black Label Trading - 3.2%
Viaje - 2.0%
So there you have it. Proof that I am a verified Crowned Heads whore !

Thanks Tony. That's one heck of a collection of cigars. And the organization to keep track is equally impressive. Thanks for posting this.Agreed.
Extremely nice setup and lots of storage in temperature and rh controlled winedors.
Fortunately, I don't live anywhere that I have to worry about controlling the temperature as my room at the veterans home facility stays at a pretty constant 68deg year round without even using my heat or a/c, just from the well climate controlled building my room is in.
Only have to worry about rh since Wyoming is pretty dry year round, but Bovedas in tupperdors keeps perfect rh for me.
I love the glass fronts on a cabinet, endtable, tupperdor or winedor, as I enjoy being able to see my cigars, especially with the amount of money tied up in them, lol
Really wish the glass door, 6ftx6ft, cabinet humidor on a large base with 2 small cabinets and several drawers in the roughy 4ftx6ft base it sits on I built out of a used, 1970's curio cabinet here. It was fun to convert, and cheap and easy to do and worked perfectly. .
Unfortunately it's in a storage unit 6hrs away with all the other contents of the house I was renting, and really would just take up to much space if it even fit at all, in my relatively small room at the veterans home.
Plus I doubt I could get a rule exception for it, as we aren't allowed to store anything on the floor, or have any additional furniture, especially if it encroaches on the bed, as we are required to have enough room to get a stretcher in, in the event something happens. It took repeated requests to be able to have my two 74qt containers in the corner of the room since I proved to them it didn't interfere with getting a stretcher in.
WNYTONY
How many cigars do yours hold?
Did you add the drawers yourself, or are they one of the custom made winedors?
Regardless, very nice setup and i assume, stash inside.
I image you spent some serious coin for them, as I have looked at stock winedors, and custom made ones just for fun, and they quite expensive, but I understand that in some environments they are very necessary and you just have to bite the bullet to protect your stash.

One winedor filled with a combination of cedar trays and plastic bins. Couldn’t fit two cedar trays side-by-side. Each shelf has one tray and one bin. Each tray or bin is 2-3 layers deep, or until I can’t slide the tray onto the shelf any longer (4 layers?)
A lot of singles; mostly Cigar Federation / Ezra Zion as I subscribe to multiple COTM in addition to 20 or so “Boutique Seconds”, unlabeled cigars I pick up about every month or so for under $5 each. I smoke these as fillers when I have a second or third of the day or when I don’t want to choose.
One tupperador overflow (full). Need to dig out a cooler. One MF box half filled with random MF cigars.
The winedor is not very organized. I tried to keep similar lines together in a tray/bin but doesn’t stay that way as I shuffle around. It’s a Tetris game with new arrivals.
I have one 100 count humidor in my winedor taking up one shelf with about 50-75 or so. Mostly AF, DTT, and a few other higher end or unique, well aged or last of its kind cigars. One small lower section contains a handful of CCs.
I supplement with B&M purchases that are almost all singles, typically never more
than 2 of a specific cigar. These are usually around 20-25 at a time so I get the box discount price. They count any 20 cigars as a ‘box’.
Prominent lines are BWS/BLTC, one bin of mostly CH. Others are RomaCraft, Viaje.
Having options is good, but sometimes a burden. Hard to make a choice.
I rarely buy boxes.
Estimated at about 400-500 currently as I am not smoking as much since it is cooler and dark in the eves.
Additionally I have about 20-50 mini cigars/ Tins I keep in a ziploc bag in my desk drawer at work for smoking breaks. I also like to keep a tin or two in my car for commuting time.

Lookin good Mark. It's cool that your locals give box discounts on purchases of multiple singles. I don't think I had ever seen your setup, it's lookin good!
I would love to see jhedrick83 share some pics.

Not the fanciest or prettiest setup, but all are airtight and hold perfect rh, and are relatively inexpensive, so it works well for me.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20211124/97962c1d8698df29d5c9648ca9396f88.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20211124/65d22fdf363b368ed0b6a82cd963de1d.jpg

Ok Steve - I finally got around to doing this for you. Though I must admit I was a little curious as to how the numbers have changed.
First off, a pic of my "humidor". Not a nice fancy walk in like TJ has but it serves my purpose.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20211123/48d2d9e638ad57df8962094943527ba4.jpg
Is that an empty spot on the bottom left humi?

Another empty humi!!!
I really don't have any specific type of cigars all over the place with origin and flavors. Have lost count of how many I have. Just like Ryan, Tombstone, whenever I see a sale I buy. Unfortunately I don't smoke anywhere near as many sticks as I buy. Thank God I find empty humidors here and there that I can assist with.:lol::lol:

I put those MAW you sent in there and it was only empty because we smoked the shit out of it at my party. It went from filled to that in a few hours.

Nature Mark can I make a suggestion? I started out with the plastic trays but felt they made my humidor look cheap. I use these metal trays that are coated with plastic from the $1.25 tree. I have seen them in a few sizes. They hold a decent amount but give more airflow to the cigars and in my opinion look better. They stack 2 high pretty easy if small rg they can do 3 maybe. Just a thoughthttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20211124/04ed0af0331d517ddae550d1604b738b.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20211124/56d4e8d431ed8e7fac9fcfba24a19ff6.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20211124/81655672988343986677d22569475f6d.jpg

Agreed.
Sent from my SM-T820 using TapatalkI have them in the basement so they aren't even plugged in. When I bought the first I had it upstairs and needed it to cool but when I added the second I moved them to the basement and no longer needed the coolers.
I had the drawers made by a guy that does them custom - but I modified some of the shelves to make them into trays. They are the top 2 on each wineador.
I'd say each one holds approx 500 cigars +/- depending on the sizes.
The wife bought me the third one and that's primarily boxes, as are the coolers.

Do you use Pivot Tables with your cigar inventory data-sheet?

Its a table in Excel that makes sorting data easier in theory.

No I did a quick one time look for this thread. I don't normally keep track of brand percentages.

The best way to keep track of children is a large cage....

The best way to keep track of children is a large cage....[emoji1787][emoji1787][emoji1787]. But with this pivot table he can probably sort by age, height, gender, conceived in a car, etc.... I imagine that would make remembering all the names I little easier.
I like the cage idea though. That would have been helpful when mine were younger

Yes sorting, grouping, summarizing, filtering, with just a few clicks. There is a charting function as well with a little drag and drop of different elements will bring up alternate views.

Shit mine looks something like Tomestones, only his boxes are visible. I keep my booze separate though. I have 11 Cooliders with 10,000+ cigars. Trying to find just 1 cigar is impossible even with my virtual humidor from another forum. If only I could take pictures and post.

Just got back in town from Thanksgiving. I used to have an old gun cabinet I lined with Spanish Cedar that I used for years but I out grew it when I went stockpiling before my son was born. I don’t think I’ve ever shared this but since Steve asked. I’ve got a 48x36x24 cabinet I ordered from Bob Staebell in 2015. Lives in my guest bedroom and is Temp and humidity controlled.

Other than some rare Fuentes, I haven’t bought cigars in years thanks to my slowdown in consumption. It needs a reorganization. All the ziplock bags on top are for an extra layer of humidity balance. For a while, it was so stuffed the top got a little more humid than the rest. Then, when I moved the last time a couple years ago, I just never unbagged them.

I much prefer wooden humidors for the classier look I believe good cigars deserve, but have gone to all tupperdors a while ago as they are just too perfect in every way for cigars.

In the spring when I clean out my storage unit 6 hours from here and donate nearly everything to charity since I have no use for it, I'm hoping to bring back the cabinet for my room. Not sure if it will fit and still meet the requirement of having enough room for a stretcher to be brought in if needed.
May have to leave the base with drawers and small cabinets behind to make it fit, plus its extremely heavy and I doubt me and my sister could carry it..
Just the upper humidor portion would be fine alone
Would be awesome to have again
