As the title suggests, here's the place to show off your pride and joy. I had this custom built for me last spring by a very good friend. The finish is bloodwood and ebony. There are three trays:

Those are older photos. I was just burning up the packs I had until I got it in good rotation with the beads. I eventually gave all those away and just use two tubes of HF. I don't rotate because I prefer my Habanos to be slightly drier than my NCs, so I let the humidity rise to the latter.

I don't know what to be more jealous of...The humidor or the cc stash lol

Tobias,
Any chance got could expand on the setup / usage of the HF beads instead of Boveda (u am a noob, using Boveda).I apologize if I'm hijacking this thread, I may need to start up a new one for this question

The humidor is roughly 20" x 20" x 13" deep. I keep two tubes of 60rh HF beads in the bottom tray, one on the back right, and one on the front left. Since humidity naturally rises, the middle and top try tend to hang right at 60, while the bottom tray sits around 58.

I'm glad to see this posted...I keep 65rh beads and it stays dead on in the middle of my wineador. The bottom drawer is my cc drawer and it stays at 59-60, which had me wondering if its too low. But they have been smoking perfectly so I guess that really is what they like best.

The stock has changed quite a bit since I took these over a year ago. It's an old gun cabinet I found on craigslist and stripped out, lined with Spanish Cedar and made it a big ass humidor. KL is no more, I just use HCM beads now.

Here's my latest humidor. It's a foot locker style, just a big empty box - I'll have to get some trays to put in there. JCubed won this from our local B&M on Superbowl Sunday along with a bunch of other swag and let me have it. The seal wasn't good so I put weatherstripping around the lip and replaced the dinky latches with the draw latches you see. It seals up nice and tight now, hopefully it works well.

I will ask if I ever try it. It would definitely be a fun project over a period of time, and a nice challenge. I'm pretty handy, but patience for fine work isn't always my forte. I have done a few things that turned out alright though, so maybe if I ever see a decent cabinet like that when I'm cruising craigslist..

That's a beautiful looking humidor. Can you really keep the humidity stable just using beads in that thing? I own a similar sized humi (now have two) and I tried everything but the the only way I can keep a stable humidity was to invest in an Oasis II-XL Electronic Humidifier.

Thanks! When I bought the cabinet, I sanded off the old stain inside and out, sealed all the inside edges, puttied any holes I could find, sealed the glass in the door, restained the outside and put on several coats of poly. So I tried to seal the shell as well as I could. I lined it with 1/2 in SC with everything as a snug fit to start with, once it got to the right humidity the SC swelled some and made it all a very tight fit. I also have foam weatherstripping on the cedar inside and the rim of the door as well. I keep it in my basement and away from any air vents so temp changes are gradual. I may have a slight drop (like to 64 or maybe 63) when it get bitterly cold outside but that usually corrects itself pretty quickly, within 12-24 hours. There are 2 lbs of HCM beads in there now. I switched from KL because it seemed too slow to rebound when I would have the door open for a while in winter.

now I want to ask here.....no fibin...just how long did it take to get those cigars, to fill that box....trying to get a possible time frame to compare to mine.

If you're referring to my humidor in the original post- about 18 months.

gordo1473

so since mine is only 400..it could take me 12 mos. to fill....you know compared to the samples & pricing I see in all of the humi's...so I guess my next question would be the price ranges of the cigars in your humi's...so I could make that jump and be sampling those...I'm in the $2.00 stage...

im afraid to think of mine. Its probally in the $10 area

I really never figured it up. I don't mind less costly smokes, like some JR blends, and I have a good amount of "middle of the road" like CAOs, and PC Habanos from various marcas, but I also have some $25 a pop sticks (not nearly as many though)

No need to compare here! It's not the size of the humi, nor how much it's filled, nor what it's filled with; but the enjoyment that you get out of it that matters.

My custom humidor built from a vintage US Military surplus CNU 317/E container by Lockheed Martin that originally held the guidance nose of an air to ground missile. It's about 4' x 1' x 1' and just under 100lbs!

Still seasoning. It is sitting at 74%rh and I want to bring it down a bit before I fill it. Put a few pounds of kitty litter in it to see what that would do. Testef the litter first and I know it is at 55%, so hopefully I see a difference tomorrow.

Configuration may change depending on what I need. I can either lose a drawer or a shelf as needed. I bought an extra.

Nothing wrong with that at all. It has taken me almost 3 years to get to this point, and only because I wan't space to store cigars for a longer period than a few months to a year in one central storage device. I'm still no where near as bad as some of the other bums on here.

I agree with Dustin!
If it weren't for the temp conditions in my house I probably would never bothered with the wineador. And the humi was won at a raffle otherwise the tupperadors/cooleradors are the way to go if you're not looking for aesthetics!

I think you'll be fine. I have 1lb of HF beads split (half in the little drawer on top and half under bottom drawer with 2 bovedas in each drawer. Winter here in Saskatchewan is insanely dry and I have to give them a spray about once a month if I'm opening it alot. I'd think the 2lbs of kitty litter and bovedas should work well for you.

Been using kitty litter in my wineador for a long time now.

It works great.

I don't like to spray it, I just put dishes of distilled water throughout the wineador when I want to recharge it. Usually 2 maybe 3 times a year.

Thanks! I'm pretty geeked about the new aging vault. I had been using a bunch of Big Payback cigar boxes to age my stash, but stacking them in the closet made it a pain in the butt to go in and check the humidity and rotate the sticks. I just wish each drawer was a bit deeper.

I like these Klip-It Sistema containers. They hold humidity extremely well, and only need one Boveda pack. Depending on size, I can get at least 60 cigars in one container.

I'm going to stick with my original post that my problem is I don't smoke enough. If I buy more storage then I have more room for more cigars and the slippery slope just gets steeper. I'm trying to stay upright with minimal bruising on the way down this hill. I appreciate the thought and effort though. [emoji41]

Did you see the uncle Lee deal I posted in the deals thread? 3.50 a cigar plus free shipping on your while order! You're practically losing money if you don't get it :devilspin: :kickbutt:

Ya see, if you have more storage and get more cigars, more of them get more age and they are more tasty...I think MORE is the key to everything involving cigars...:stogie:

Here's a RyJ Limited edition 250 ct in Mahogany and quilted Maple. It's three levels and has the most wonderful smell. It's very thick and heavy, weighing in at about 25 pounds empty.

These are some old pics, but I thought I'd share anyway.

Here are some shots of the winador with Waxing Moon Virginia Wormy Chestnut (now extinct) drawers. The wood for the drawers was a surprise from Ed. I gave him carte blanche to do whatever he wanted. He knows I'm a proud Virginian with a lot of family history here, so I was absolutely delighted when the drawers arrived made from this Chestnut.

Again, older pics. I can't get a greased BB in the thing now and the average age of the sticks inside is probably about 8-9 years. :D

Not much to show off, but you guys have Tupperdors, Winedoors, Cooledoors, Ammodoors...I'm working on setting up an Orange-a-Dor [EDIT: Original name was DryBoxador, but it got confusing because I didn't think of dry boxing, just that it was made of a dry box!], mainly because, well, I have one laying around!

My only dilemma will be whether I buy cedar trays for it or just find another way to stack stuff. I have a few boxes coming, but also lots of singles laying around...

PhilB I'm hesitant to address this here since I'm loth to hijack the thread, but here goes anyway>

Ummm... the whole idea behind dry boxing is to slowly decrease the moisture content of the stick. By using a vessel with that stout of a seal, it's going to be hard to accomplish this. For this reason, typically we use an old cigar box, or unseasoned humidor. Basically, all you're trying to do by putting it in anything is just protect the cigar from damage while it's drying. Using a cedar box of some sort offers the additional benefit of more uniformed dehydration.

That looks to me like, with the help of some trays, boxes, spills, etc., that container would make an awesome humidor. Don't waste a 65% Boveda on seasoning those spills. You can just spritz them with a mister, or even wipe them with a clean, damp cloth. The only time we need to use more fancy, controlled humidification media is when we need to take precautions against warping.

Hope this helps.

Herf N Turf: Hahaha...yes, I understand the confusion, as it happened on another forum as well.

I called it DryBoxADor because it was a humidor made from a dry box, like Ammodor, Turperdor, etc.... I didn't think of the defined term of "dry boxing" in the cigar world!

I have since renamed it to Orange-a-Dor to avoid this mess in the future. It is meant to be a spare humidor.

Indeed it isn't, but I can't think of a better excuse to start a new thread in Cigar Accessory Discussions, or even General. I'll do my best to answer whatever you have and I'm sure others more knowledgeable than I will jump in as well.

I think I found all my answers by searching. It was more of a why/what/how kinda thing, but, like most things in the cigar world, there are many answers depending on whom you ask!

One of the wisest brothers I've ever known once told me, "if we sent everyone packing off to 'search' we'd have nothing to talk about." Back on the 'old' forum, I used to, for example, get impatient with "noobish" questions that had been discussed a hundred times and dispatch them to search. What he said rocked me back on my heels and I haven't done it since.

It's always a good idea to consider what others might learn from your query and always interesting what fellow Bums might share.

Just a thought.

Not sure I ever shared mine. It has bounced around a bit depending on tetris ability and time dealing with it.

First my wife got me this over 10 years ago when I first started looking for cigars. I didn't use it for years then started felling bad it was in the garage under years of dust. Reborn holds mostly gifted cc and a few special cc and a random box of partagas.

Then I got this of craigslist 7 years ago. I used to have several smaller humidors and got tired of trying to keep up with them all.

First 2 shelves are mostly cigars I have been bombed.

From there is what ever and where ever I can fit it. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210821/7a4a771abc8d3ae9e736a16960d6b7c9.jpg81358136https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210821/8e82633c50ec88c8a6b9d481c88f304b.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210821/29d9df9308e38ad8c8a40320af74667b.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210821/e1f35ca374013b91fe62792c371f79ad.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210821/83a4e40ed9e65ca256c5357ccebdfb6c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210821/78a3edb40fe4efb8fbefd4ea10184b53.jpg

Tupperdors are nice and airtight so all my bovedas are as plump as the day I bought them and rh is dead on all the time.

Only have the one humidor I had to temporarily bring out of retirement due to a Fuente bomb. To maintain 65% I have to use a 75% boveda, and they don't last long so its obviously not a very good seal at all

Been thinking about adding some smaller tuppies, making it a set-up like yours where sticks are segregated and easier to find.

Yeah, I have a kinda weird, anal organizational system for my smokes, so theres the 74qt weatherproof Iris for boxes, 4 of the largest sistemas, 3 of the next size down sistemas, and the one wooden humidor, which will be going away again at the end of the month when I ship all my trades and free up the tupperdoor, and then repurpose another one for my special occasion cigars.

Still can be a pain trying to find a specific cigar, but not too bad as all of them but one large one are only about half full.

I assure you there is not as much space as it looks like i use those plastic coated wire trays to hold cigars there are at least 6 in 1 picture you can't see with all the stuff in front of it. The bottom section i have 6-8 more and on top of that black box and coffins si where my kitty litter sits.

Every once in a while I go in try to rearrange and organize trays. It helps some.

That pink box is filled with Fuentes and I got another box hidden in there with more Fuentes and I got 2 trays in the bottom that are loaded with good sticks.

You could definitely use a few more of the large ones next time they are on sale half off. Little pricey for Tupperware at the full price, and they go on sale fairly often.

Even with all I have I still have to occasionally hunt pretty hard and sometimes find something that wasn't in my inventory app for some reason, like the RyJ Short Churchill I ran across recently and smoked
