Intro / Pre-Smoke Judgement:
First Regius for me, compliments of Brimy. He gave it a lot of praise, so that's definitely weighing in. I haven't seen Regius locally, until just recently, but it's not at major B&Ms - so there's a potential counter-balance. Plus, this brand seems a little obscure here - doesn't really seem to be posted here often. Maybe the Bums are trying to keep a secret? I wanted to save this smaller stick for the colder season, as it's a smaller robusto, but dedicated stick time has not been on my side.
*2 days post-smoke
Overall:
-Pretty zesty throughout. Kinda made me think fruit, but not as in citrus. Maybe lemon peel.
-The zest comes in the foreground.
-I remember some pepper through. Not lots - not a diss. Melded nice to let the zest shine.
-Kinda complex, but really this flavor profile is kinda new to me, and I'm not used to zesty sticks like this.
-Solid stick throughout.
-Burned like a champ.
-Ash was irregular to me. Usually you can see the layers. Here, it seemed like a solid column.
-Probably medium-plus to full. Seemed more light, and less bold. Can't remember if this remained throughout, as in if it changed as it progressed.
-Acidic and zesty or floral residual. More acidic the more I thought of the zest - probably head-games.
Trial By Smoke Judgement:
Great cigar. The flavor profile, or whatever you call it, was different from my norm, but I enjoyed it, and it kept my attention at all times. There's been a few sticks I've smoke very recently that have had a similar kinda flavor profile, and I'm starting to dig them. Just looked up the MSRP - $10-12. I don't know about that price point, only because the flavor profile is still new to me, and I'm only getting my feet wet with it. Definitely recommended to the Bums, though; especially those who know/enjoy this type. I'll be looking at Regius more closely at the small shop I recently found, and plan to start exploring other lines soon...probably after Halloween.
Horror Movie Pairing:
Halloween (1978)
Brimy
Thanks again, brother! Great stick!
