I need my bums inputs on a question:
If my tupperdore is sitting at 65% solid without humidity packs/accessories inside - is there any concern with leaving the tupperdore without humidity pack/accessories until the RH starts to drop below my desired (62-65) level?
To add, the humidor has had around 50 sticks or so that sat in 70% for 9-10 months. I'm thinking it's the residual hydration, plus some residing in a bit of cedar I have inside, that's keeping it stready without help.

My basement is so humid I dont need humidification all summer. So if its holding fine no worries. If you use 2 way humidification then it doesnt hurt.

Also if it is one of the air tight tupperdor it may hold what ever humidity better. But you will need to watch it as you add or remove sticks that is when it may fluctuate the most.

I have ammo cans converted to humidors that are so tight, I've had the same boveda in them for years. That said, on some BOTL suggestions, I occasionally open the can to "burp" them and get some air exchange.

I would say that a two-way humidification device such as a Boveda is always needed. Your ambient RH might be OK now, but that will eventually change with the seasons. Bovedas are cheap--look on Amazon for the 62RH ones. As SoCal gunner said, when used with airtight containers, they're set it and forget. I've never done a recharge of any of mine, however I live in a climate where humidity is high in the summer and that probably naturally recharges them. Might be a different story wherever you live.
When I first got into cigars, I spent so much time thinking about storage and RH. Then I got some plastic containers and some Bovedas and I haven't thought about it since. I don't even have hygrometer anymore. The batteries ran out and I ditched it.

Same here. Tupperdors and Boveda, a match made in heaven.

First up are some .50 cal ammo cans that I lined with Spanish Cedar. Gotta be good at Tetris for these.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200805/3d5e8dda2425965af0ad21abcc02e499.jpg

Also use the bigger MTM ammo crates with the giant Boveda for boxes. Has a rubber seal /o-ring in the lid.

Then some dumb ass comes along and tries to convert his closet into a "step-in" humidor - lol

Nice setup. Thanks for taking time out to show us. Ammo cans are pretty inexpensive, and sometimes I can score them for free at work. This may be a future project. Looked up "custom" ammodores for shits and giggles the other day, and they're ridiculouly priced for what I think would be an easy and far less costly job done by yourself.

I always intended to do one of those big ones out of an old footlocker or crate for an RPG. Not the most practical, but I love the looks.

Used to work with a guy that carried his tools in a 50 cal can. Get some odd looks downtown walking in and out of buildings and banks

Something more like this...https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200805/d75ee68d637a7627fa994593aa0d7590.jpgCases like that are air-tight like a sumuvabitch. Those pressure relief valves are no joke. They'd be, maybe overly, practical for sure - if the seal and valves are in good shape.
