Initial Stuff:
Punched. Cold draw has that same liquor-ish taste as the A. Flores 1975. Nice lookin' stick.
Pre-Smoke Judgement:
The cold draw has me a little worried. The A. Flores 1975 (AF1975 from now on) wasn't bad, but it wasn't good enough to maintain my interest. Only one way to find out...
1/3:
A bit of spicyness on the first couple puffs. More closer to full than the AF1975. The smooth background of the retrohale is similar to the AF1975. After about 7-8 puffs it becomes flat. She needed a little flame. She's back without spicyness. The residual is hinting towards bitterness, so I give it a rest. She's back after a little chill. The flavor isn't great, nor is it bad, just in the middle. Slowing the retrohale exhale allows the subtle spice to become detected. Not a whole lot noticed, but the hint os there.
2/3:
Still a decent flavor. My interest is so-so. I'm thinking about some PDRs I was chasing on Cigarbid about 6-8 months ago...the Wicked Pugs. Any bums out there tried em'? I'm hoping the AFR-75 and AF1975 are PDRs bargain cigars. A long, hard hit brings out some spice along with a tad of bitterness. Let's keep hitting it hard and testing. I'm gonna get scientific on this guy. The draw is similar to the AF1975 - not solid, not laborous, but almost like it needs a patching somewhere. A quick relight, still keeping with strong pulls, and the spice is back, along with more bitterness. Rest time. While she's resting, I'd like to remind the bums that your critiques of, and recommendations to my methods are always welcome. I roll and pinch the cap end to see if she'll open up, and add some flame. Cardamom? Maybe. Bitterness...yes. Rest time. I'd say she's a little...fragile? 1/2 through the cigar now. She's cooled down, but the flavors have disappeared. Nothing else noted as she's about 1 inch from the 3/3.
3/3:
I lost my interest clost to the beginning of the 3/3. Kids want to go to the water park, and that's seems way more fun than finishing the AFR-75.
Trial By Smoke Judgement:
Same thing as the AF1975, but maybe...a little heavier, or robust. Overall disappinted. Overall similar to my experience with the AF1975, including pricepoint wise judgement. She's another check in the block, and I'm really hoping the last of the three pack will be the best. Best part: spice hints.
