I just bid for a box of Hoyo De Monterrey Excalibur #1's maxxing at $70/box. Fingers crossed that I win.

Uh oh.....did somebody coach you in the ways of CBID...this site has claimed more souls than the Devils Mother and Father....put a cap on your account and read all you can about how to be smart when using this site as I know half a dozen brothers who now live on the streets.

Haha, yes there's a reason they call it the devil site
I'm coaching a friend on cigar aficionadodom, and told him about cbid. About a week later he said "F___ you very much!" and proceeded to enumerate all of his recent purchases, which pretty well exceeded the capacity of the humidor I gave him :)

I just want a box of cigars. So... My one humidor is empty.. Well, there's one cigar left. But that's empty to me.

But thanks for the warning. I have a budget and a plane to take care of. It's the spirit of this budget that I can get that box of excal #1's because retail is a killer.

Dante said it best. "All hope abandon ye who enter here."
I'm sure he was talking about the Devil Site.

Small Batch Cigar, go to their list of brands and find Scottys Corner everything is 40% offUntil you list your address as California, then you get the privilege of a 64% tax.

But hey, there are Bums outside of CA ;)

There's certainly a science to CBid and you've already found the main component: maximum bids. Set them and forget them. And turn off email notifications. You'll get an email every time someone outbids you and you'll want to get into a war with them.

I set my shipping frequency to weekly and check in the day before my order is going to be processed. If I've only won a 5-pack, I'll round out my order with some stuff I know I can win, such as singles in the $3-5 range or budget 5-packs in the $10-20 range.

Also, be sure to read the descriptions of the products instead of just looking at the photos. I've seen singles of 5 Vegas Gold going for $20 because someone thinks they're bidding on a 5-pack. Don't be that guy!

If you learn the system, it can be very rewarding. I typically am able to buy all of my cigars at 30-40% off the Cigars International price. You can also take advantage of holidays--bids will be pretty sleepy on Thursday for example. And I've found that the Quickies section usually has the best deals because they're up for a much shorter time-frame than 5-packs or boxes, which have three days of bids.

Happy bidding!

So I lost the bid. Someone came in last minute and out bid me.

So I got over my initial anger and stupidity for bidding with two days remaining on the cigars. And saw a really nice ten-pack of montecristo white vintage with thirty minutes remaining on the auction. So I won that. Considering those sticks retail in my town for about $15/ea, I paid around $6 after taxes/shipping.

Woot.

I have now been introduced to this site, and damn. It's the devil incarnate.

My challenge is always my address.

When I'm in Phx that's one thing. When I'm in MX, I use a friend's San Diego address. Let's see how it goes.

Well, did my first bid/win on Cigar Bid - you bums must be happy. Another has yielded to the devil's ways.

Planning to visit our Phx address in a week and a half - will get the pkg then.

No doubt it can be a great site to pick up cigars at a discounted price if everything turns out right. BUT it can be worse than a crack habit if you're not careful. Back when I played on their site a bit more than I should've, I'd bid no more than my set price in my head and just 'let it roll'. I did pick up a couple of boxes of My Father's and some other cigars that I can't pull up in my head right now. I also bought several fivers of Ramon Bueso Project robustos for a buck or two which are really great to me, especially after a year or so of resting. All in all, a great place to score cigars if you play your cards correctly......

Yes, the nickname of the Devil Site is very appropriate for cbid. Many many times have I gone down that rabbit hole, to come up with a few winnings bids that turn into a few more and into a few more. last time I was on there I swore I was only looking for 2 cigars (both My Fathers). I ended up buying 30 cigars total I think, only 4 of which were singles of the My Fathers I was looking for originally!
