Well summer is upon us and judging by the employee parking lots, vacation season is ramping up. Any of you bums have any vacation plans?
I myself don't have anything too extravagant planned due to home improvements, landscaping, and a new fence. But I do have a Vegas trip coming up that includes a trip to the cigar lounges mapped out by daily specials at each location and an Aerosmith concert.
How about you all?

Heading out on a 4 day golf weekend tomorrow and will probably do another in the fall but nothing extravagant in the mix. Nowadays it seems all our "vacations" are to see kids and grandkids !

Karmen can’t help but plan for vacations. So in about a month we will drive up to Colorado and do some camping in 2 spots, which has my daughter rightfully freaked as she can’t help but wear whatever she eats. Then in August it’s a cruise to Key West, Nassau, and The Bahamas. We’ll start with a day and a half in NOLA. I’ve been looking for cigar shops to stop at and padding my cigar funding. And in Sept it’s the two of us in Vegas, which was supposed to have happened 2 years ago.

Going to Amelia Island in Florida.. great place as it's never crowded at the beach... . great food and hotels.. then in late November off to Venice and Florence, Italy and will cruise back from Rome to Ft. Lauderdale .... 13 nights.

Just got back last week from Branson MO for celebrating my mother in law's 70th. Will take a week off in September for hunting. Other than that, we just plan on taking long weekends a few times for camping during the summer.

Funny, I was just working on that. It will either be a few days in Destin or a few days in Ybor City in early September. Probably will take a weekend in the mountains before then sometime but haven't pinned down a date yet. Amelia Island is awesome. I love Kiawah but there's just not time this year for a trip there.

Family Rented a condo in Watch Hill RI for the summer. So it'll be back and forth on the weekends all summer long. Killer spot right on the beach and only 1hr 40min from my casa.

As of tomorrow I’m free for ten days with no plans other than the 104 degree hot tub, smoking foods and fine cigars. Perhaps a few nips and ales

I’ve been down in the Destin area a few times now. Have a cousin nearby in Niceville. Check out some of the places just a little east along 30A; Blue Mountain Beach, Watercolor, etc. Not as crowded with a lot of nice houses/condos for rent. Not as commercialized, but still convenient enough to Destin for some of the activities if you want. There are now non-stop flights from Omaha to Destin on Allegiant air. Cheap! We drove non-stop twice. Won’t do it again! I think Allegiant serves Knoxville as well.

Everyone should visit Gettysburg at least once.
No more vacations this year for me; A family situation precludes that for awhile. The Orgy was my vacation with a visit to Phillie/New York City and NJ the month before. My wife and two of my remaining kids still at home went to France earlier this month leaving me with my 10 and 19 year old sons. Even though I still had to work, that was a vacation for me!

Yeah, that was the reasoning for Destin. I have an Allegiant flight voucher I need to use by 9/20 from a trip that I had to cancel and that's one of the non stop destinations from Knoxville.

Next time I make the plans I'll be sure to include your invite. But this time I'm a "willing hanger on".
My Mom, Sister & oldest daughter pretty much said "we're going to Aruba and your coming!"
I couldn't say no. Aruba is the most beautiful vacation spot I remember, eventhough I haven't been there in 23 years!! It made a "little impression" on me.

We didn't have/don't have a lengthy vacation planned.
We flew up to the Santa Ynez Valley, and did some wine tasting over a long weekend there. Hooked up with friends, and hung out with Kevin Sussman and his wife for a bit while in Los Olivos.
July will just be "business as normal" for us, as will August.
We're saving $$ and vacation hours for a trip to Europe in 2020.

I agree. Had never been out there before, and the wife talked me into going about 17 years ago. Now we try to go once a year. If you're into the history like me, you can find something new on every trip. My wife is into the haunted angle. It's actually a beautiful area. We've actually talked about moving there when I retire (in 17 months!).

I know I won't get any sympathy on this.... but here goes my First-world problem.
I have a work-from-home job. This means I don't have to take time off for lots of things that office workers do. I can actually use my vacation for .... ummmm ... vacation. Instead of sick days, etc. I've worked while having a cold plenty, as I don't have to worry about infecting a co worker.
My employer caps my vacation accrual at 160 hours.
Currently at 152.
I get 6.67 hours per pay period.
I think I need to take off every other Friday.... .Sigh....

Well, I've got this two+week vacation to Germany / Austria in Sep 2020.
I've felt as if I've needed to "save my hours" for that - but I'm realizing that --- damn., I don't need to save a thing right now.
As long as I keep the balance above 100, I'm good.
Wife and I are taking the plane to Davis Ca to visit a friend on Jul 19th.
I think I'll also take Friday the 2nd of August, and maybe August 16th. Don't know why yet, though.

Not my first choice of vacation destinations, but we spent a week in Myrtle beach at the end of June. My youngest son's travel baseball team played in a big tournament there so everyone made the best of it. The wife and I are talking about doing a little weekend getaway to Charleston in a few weeks, then for the past few years we've done labor day weekend somewhere with friends of ours, usually a beach.

It's in the 60s here at the beach in Ensenada, so let's head to Davis, CA on Friday - where the temps will be around 90! :D
Taking our friend to Half Moon Bay on Saturday - that'll be fun, too.
Headed home Sunday sometime.

The wife and I are heading up and over to Cheyenne Wy tomorrow for a long weekend. Kind of vacation and kind of scouting the area to see if we'd like to live there. Job opportunity there, but we're not sure if the mountains are close enough for us, or if we'd be disgusted living on flat land until retirement comes around.
Wyoming is our preferred retirement area, but one of the parts more mountainous than the Eastern plains section of the state.

Does this mean there's a fellow Cardinals fan on this here forum?? :dude:
I miss it. I grew up in the historic suburb of Webster Groves about 15 minutes outside of the city. My two best friends have moved away, and this is the first time we'll all be back there in some time. Amazingly, I think the weather is going to be mild. The last time I was in STL during the summer, it was miserable to be outside 24 hours a day. Had to go to a few lounges to smoke. There's a few gems there if you have any free time in the city. Like I said, Charles Stanley is top notch. The Hill Cigar Company is also nice, but I find their stock to be over humidified, so I bring my own sticks. And Grand Cru in Soulard has probably the best boutique selection I've ever seen. It's a small humidor, but it's all the good stuff.
