Hello folks,
I have yet to try a Candela cigar, I keep wanting to, but just not sure what are duds and which are actually good. I know likes are subjective, but what is commonly thought of as a good quality Candela?

A while back there was a few mentioned and I wrote them down, but lost the list. So I am open to any help from those of you who have them and enjoy them.

Thanks
Chris

I think the best one is the illusione, they're just hard to come by. I've not had one in years, but I remember that of the 3 I tried back than, that was my favorite. The other two being the LFD and the AF.

Famous has them in 5 packs so you can try them without having to pay for a box
One of these days I'm going to spring for a fiver of these myself. I enjoyed the AF 858 claro. Was a little too mild tho.

Allowing for the fact that it's been a good while since I've smoked one. As i recall they were sold as double claro, or some such.
Candela seems to be the same type of green wrapper cigars that were popular back in the late forties early fifties.
Less common now. Would guess you'd need try two or three, brands at most, that is one of each to decide.

Cacho Candella and Espinosa Wasabi are pretty good.

I occasionally get a flavor for a candela. Haven’t had too many. The filthy hooligan comes first to mind, and is probably the most well known. It’s OK, not great. I liked the LFD and Illusione. I think the LFD is better in the #42, corona size. Viaje makes one too, but yet to try.

Expect grassy, hay like flavors.

Another vote for the Illusione here.
A fun take was the Asylum Barberpole that Tombstone sent me a while back.

Romacraft fomrian if you can find it. I'll also throw another vote in for the illusione and wasabi.

They are good and I guess technically it has candela on it, but it does not smoke like what most people think of when they talk about candela.

Illusiones are a really good choice - you can find them in three wrappers, and see what a difference the wrapper makes to the flavor. I tried the experiment a few years ago with Hls.
